These are just some of the kids in Sierra Islands who brave their way and swim across islands just to continue their education. The stuggle that these kids are facing is the reason of the high dropout rates in their school. (at Cagutsan, Samar, Philippines)

In this remote group of islands of Samar, children would walk and swim across island just to go to school and attend classes. They would swim 200 meters long that is equivalent to 4 Olympic-size pools. Then they'll walk for 20-30 minutes to reach their barangay - Brgy. Cagutsan. (at Cagutsan, Samar, Philippines)

My heart is broken right now.

This is my dog Bilbo, a 2-year old mix breed (Golden Retriever-Japanese Spitz) furball. Yesterday he was hit by a tricycle (tri-wheel vehicle). We still don’t know who was the driver as he/she didn’t even stop to help my poor dog. Thankfully, one of my neighbors saw my dog, and helped him get back to our house. He was limping, but I never thought that he’ll have a very bad fracture.  My brother and nephew took him to the veterinary clinic. When the doctor was examining Bilbo’s right hind leg, Bilbo was so much in pain that he peed when the doctor stretched his limb. He was injected twice. The doctor told them to come back tomorrow for an x-ray. For the meantime, the doctor gave us a prescription.

The next time day, I took him back to the clinic for the x-ray. We went to another clinic for that. We waited for at least 20 minutes, I bought a treat (bacon strip, his favorite). When I came back, the result was already at the veterinary clinic. The doctor was examining the result already. He explained to me how bad the fracture was, and told me that there’s no other way but to amputate his whole right hind leg. I asked the doctor when can we can have the procedure, he said as soon as possible because Bilbo might get an infection because of the injury. He might be having an internal bleeding as the bones were shattered. And if you can see in the 2nd photo, it’s pointed and sharp bones and for sure it cut some muscles and veins already. I decided to confine him in the clinic right away. It’s heartbreaking. I cant imagine this healthy and playful dog will have this risky and major operation caused by a reckless driver. The doctor discussed with me the risk of this operation as this is a major one. The hind legs are mostly muscle part, it has so many veins. As the doctor said, it’ll be a bloody one. Right of this moment, Bilbo is confined in the clinic and I’ll visit him tomorrow morning before his operation. Still wondering where I’ll get the money for this operation. The surgery will cost 16,000.00 pesos. Then for the recovery phase, we will visit the clinic every 3 days to change the bandage and clean the wound, and it will cost 6,000.00 pesos more or less. Praying and hoping for a successful operation and a fast recovery for this ‘gwapo’ dog. Hoping I could gather enough money too.

"Idolo o Pinuno? Idolo o pinuno? Pikit muna at huminga nang malalim. Photo credits: Heneral Luna Page #Goyo2018

Was able to attend this year's Planetshakers' event in Manila. Was not planning to, I was just invited by a friend who's friend suddenly was not available and who had already bought tickets. Was hesistant to accept it tbh, was just shy to reject another invitation from her, such a good, loving and generous person. I felt that im not deserving for that opportunity. There are a lot of people out there far more willing to attend and who's hearts are burning for God. But I attended and enjoyed the event nevertheless. I felt so familiar as I was there a year ago. Same venue, same performers, same type of crowd. But I felt different. No longer shouting and jumping for joy for Him. Cannot even praise or have a intimate conversation with Him. I felt lost in a crowd who's hearts were so full of His presence. And I was there - standing still, kinda awkward tbh, wondering what happened and what I want to happen. I'm lost in a place I'm so familiar with.

The hardest period in life is one’s twenties. It’s a shame because you’re your most gorgeous, and you’re physically in peak condition. But it’s actually when you’re most insecure and full of self-doubt. When you don’t know what’s going to happen, it’s frightening.

When someone doesn’t fit your stereotypical view of a Christian, you’ve already shortened the arm of God. Everyone is accountable, but everyone is also being chiseled in their personal relationship with Christ — and you are not the judge of that. You don’t get to judge someone’s life over a tiny slice of their lifetime. — J

Bagumbayan is an alternate reality novel set in The Philippines’ Spanish colonial era | Written by Redge TLNTN | Illustrated by Jap MKL

Chapter 1 Preview [DECLASSIFIED]

Fig. 1 | Agapito looked up. He watched villagers trickle through the distant Spanish garrison. The facility was little more than land, enclosed by ten-foot high walls. Inside, soldiers and their horses slept. Guns and supplies were kept. And it held the odd prisoner. The Thief’s band had never raided one, because nothing valuable was ever there…until now. —Bagumbayan | Excerpt from Chapter 1 (Part 1)

Fig. 2 | Agapito always felt a sense of pride, seeing his comrades’ eyes opening - no longer the subdued shades of dull brown - but the first, deep reds of an early sunrise. — Bagumbayan | Excerpt from Chapter 1 (Part 1)
