Summary: Ubbe wants to pay a visit to Ivar and so he sails with Asa, his wife, and their daughter, Dagmar. He expects to find Moyra standing by Ivar's side as he reaches the docks, but he discovers Moyra died in childbirth, taking her daughter with her.

I wrote this based on a headcanon an anon reader sent me as an ask some weeks ago:

After catching up on Alpha and Omega, I started thinking... Moyra still died in childbirth and Ubbe comes back with Asa and baby Dagmar and sees Sigtrygg holding the gift he gave his unborn nephew, which is his favorite: the wooden wolf. Sigtrygg watches how it could have been to have a family and cries at night. Ivar holds him until he falls asleep.

Warnings: Grief/Mourning, Referenced original character death, Family issues, Referenced child death, Death in childbirth. These are the warning I thought about. If someone wants to suggest others, I’ll include.

Image credits: I have the photos saved on my computer for years and I have no idea where I found them. However, the most recent is the edited picture of Ivar with a beard. Link.

As the ships approached Dublin's port, Ubbe gasped, marveled at the sight of how much Ivar's kingdom had grown. He noticed a large fleet of ships in the harbor and imagine how many different shores they sailed to since his departure. He heard horns being blown in the distance announcing they had been spotted and the harbor slowly became crowded. Warriors coming out of their houses, wearing armors, holding spears, arrows, shields. The ones wealthy enough were wielding swords. Asa gasped at the sight and Ubbe pulled her to his chest, kissing her forehead.

“Don't worry!” Ubbe muttered, inhaling into the scent of her hair.

“So many warriors!” Asa stuttered and Ubbe nodded in agreement, “I thought his reign was an impressive trade center. But there's war!” Ubbe gulped, noticing the way Asa was looking down at Dagmar. He could feel the way his wife's body was rigid against his, her lower lip quivering as if she was about to suggest they should turn and leave. Apparently, Ivar found a way to increase his army. There seemed to be even more warriors than when Ubbe left sailed to Orkney.

“There is always war wherever Ivar goes. You shall see his hunger is not easily appeased.” Ubbe admitted meekly, running a finger over his daughter's cheek. Dagmar squirmed, but remained asleep.

“We should…” Asa looked up at Ubbe, taking a deep breath.

“We should greet my brother. That's why we came here. Ivar must have his reasons to be cautious, but he wouldn't hurt his family.” Ubbe smiled and leaned down to kiss Asa's trembling lips.

Ubbe pulled away, “See? There he is!” He caught sight of Ivar standing on the dock. A smile appeared on his lips when Ubbe realized Ivar was not alone.

It was so difficult for Ubbe to show confidence on his face. His feelings about Ivar were conflicting. Ubbe wished his brother's success, but he also feared being around Ivar for too long. Ubbe hoped Ivar had found a way to at least lessen his cruelty and selfishness now that he was a father.

Ubbe feared without guidance, or willingness to accept words of wisdom and experience coming from others, Ivar was still the volatile man he knew.

Ivar watched in silence as the boat reached the dock, until something unexpected shifted his attention from Ubbe's arrival. A sweaty, soft hand grabbed his calloused one. Ivar gulped and gently squeezed the little fingers, unable to look at the wide indigo eyes that were fixed on his face.

World Nomadic Games

The World Nomad Games include eagle hunting, acrobatic archery, horseback wrestling, throwing javelins at people on horseback, and setting people on fire.

Wrestlers, archers, bone-tossers, and games of polo played with a headless goat instead of a ball: Welcome to the World Nomad Games, the largest international sports competition you’ve never heard of.

Celebrating nomadic traditions since 2014, the World Nomad Games has been held in Cholpon-Ata, a Kyrgyz town on the shores of the Issyk-Kul lake, every second year.

While relatively recent, the competition pays tribute to ancient traditions rooted in nomadic culture, bringing together teams from 74 countries to compete in these alternative Olympics. All the Central Asian countries are represented, but athletes also come from as far as the Philippines and the United States.

The World Nomad Games is part of a wider attempt to revive the national identity of Central Asian nations. Following seven decades of Soviet rule, countries like Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan are trying to redefine themselves as independent states with a rich cultural heritage.

After the fall of the USSR, most Central Asian nations have lived in a period of instability, violence, and totalitarian rule. In recent years, the political and ethnic tensions that affected the region for 20 years have diminished. The World Nomad Games has emerged in this climate of relative peace and cultural resurgence.

The World Nomad Games has grown considerably in the past few years. The New York Times reports that the number of participating athletes has more than tripled from the first to the third edition. In 2018, 1,500 performers were brought to the sports field to recreate the legend of creation the Kyrgyz nomadic communities believe in, and over 10,000 spectators reached Cholpon-Ata’s hippodrome to see the show.

In the 2018 edition of the World Nomad Games, teams from all over the world competed in 37 different competitions. With yurts, boiled meat, and traditional wear forming the backdrop of the event, visiting the Nomads Games can feel like a festival.

Since its beginnings, the World Nomads Games has grown to become the largest cultural project hosted by the Kyrgyz Republic. With a spotlight shining on this young country, the opportunity of showcasing its rich heritage is not a chance to be missed. Scenes from the Manas epic, the UNESCO-listed telling the story of Kyrgyzstan’s founding hero, are enacted in a theatrical setting through narrative art, poetry, and dramatic plays. Actors and acrobats entertain the crowds and pay tribute to the little-known nomadic traditions that are still alive today.

But while some of the activities are performative celebrations of traditional folklore, sports like kok boru, archery, and arm wrestling are taken very seriously by local teams and athletes. Dusty fields marked by horseshoe prints gather thousands of supporters cheering for their national team under the hot sun, and while the glory of winning the World Nomad Games does not compare to that of baseball or soccer championships, local athletes are ready to pour sweat and blood to go home with a medal.

Kyrgyzstan has been the unparalleled winner in all of the past three editions. The 2018 edition saw the host country taking the first place with 40 gold, 32 silver, and 31 bronze medals. Kazakhstan came second with less than a third of the awards, followed by Russia in third position.

THE CONSPIRACY BEGINS Artwork by Ertaç Altinöz

The same evening that King Viserys died, his body was discovered by a servant who ran to inform Queen Alicent—and Queen Alicent alone. Whether it was because the queen had ordered Viserys’s guards and servants to report solely to her, or because she had hastened his death, Alicent now had the upper hand over her rival. Princess Rhaenyra—Viserys’s chosen heir—was away on her seat of Dragonstone, on the verge of giving birth to her sixth child. In the middle of the night, the queen and Ser Criston Cole took charge of the king’s chambers, then sent the other Kingsguard knights to summon the small council.

I hope you haven't stopped completing the writing.

This is frustrating every time I look for a new update

If you have been bored

please just say that

I mean a sequel

Alpha and Omega:

As a reader, I completely understand the frustration of waiting years (literally) for an update.

As a writer, it's just a combination of real life challenges and lack of inspiration, not boredom. I have a timeline of events planned for the story, but it's difficult to find energy and inspiration to fill in the holes of the almost written chapter.

I still have the intention of adding more chapters to Alpha and Omega, but I won't give a deadline anymore as life throws some curve balls at us.

Hi just wanna ask u please who do u think was aegon the conqueror s love of his life ?? Also when they say he married rhaenys out of desire is it for sexual pleasure ? How do u think his relationship and rhae started like the one far from siblings feelings..???

I believe there are different forms of love. He was probably able to connect with Visenya in an intellectual/strategic way, and they were trained at arms together, Visenya was responsible for creating the Kingsguard... and with all those aspects considered, I imagine the dynamic was probably difficult because when two martial personalities come together there are (usually) clashes. With Visenya being the eldest, Aegon might have even felt the urge to prove himself to her in the usual way the second-born children do.

That said, I tend to think that with Rhaenys, Aegon was able to be at ease and, maybe, even playful. I wouldn't think that bond could be simplified as sexual desire. Considering the events after her death, I think both siblings were deeply affected by that loss beyond the political blow. With Aegon raising Aenys closer to him than Maegor, it's clear he favored that son, even though he was the frail one according to some sources.

The three dragons had a 2-year age gap difference between themselves so I picture Aegon and Visenya being raised training and studying to follow in their father's footsteps as the heirs of their house and Rhaenys being the free-spirited child, trying to get their attention, being scolded by Visenya and managing to win Aegon's favor. Those feelings probably evolved into romantic ones as they grew up.

Hvitserk and the mermaid, part 2

This is my second entry for @deans-ch-ch-cherrypie 's hot fic summer challenge. I had two boards in my drafts for the mernaid prompt and couldn't choose which one I like more so I decided to post both. 😅 Sorry!

Hvitserk and the mermaid, part 1

This is my contribution to @deans-ch-ch-cherrypie 's hot fic summer challenge. I chose Hvitty for the mermaud/ merfolk prompt. He was the first who came to my mind because he has this connection to supernatural encounters...
