Bernie Sanders is surging in California, according to a Field Poll of likely Democratic primary voters released Friday.

Hillary Clinton still leads the Vermont senator in the state, 47 percent to 41 percent with 12 percent undecided, but the former secretary of state has seen only a modest, 1-point uptick since the last survey was conducted in January. Sanders, meanwhile, has jumped 6 percentage points.

Democrats favor Clinton by an 11-point margin, which is nearly equivalent to the 10-point advantage Sanders holds over Clinton among independents. As exit polls have suggested throughout the primary, Sanders also performs best among younger voters. The poll shows Sanders has more support among voters younger than 40, while older voters prefer Clinton, who also has the overwhelming support of African-American voters.

Sanders has a net favorability of +59 percent (75 percent favorable, 16 percent unfavorable), while Clinton’s net favorability is +43 percent (70 percent favorable, 27 percent unfavorable). Clinton supporters, however, view Sanders much more favorably (+35 percent) than his voters see Clinton (+3 percent), which could call into question their willingness to vote for Clinton in a general election should she win the nomination.

The survey of 1,400 likely voters — 584 of whom are likely to vote in the state’s June 7 Democratic primary — was conducted March 24-April 4 via landline and cellphone. The margin of error is plus or minus 4 percentage points.

In a stunning turn of events, five U.S. women’s soccer players (speaking on behalf of the whole team) filed a wage discrimination complaint with the federal government on Wednesday, citing years of underpayment compared to their male counterparts. Women in the U.S. making, on average, 79 cents to each dollar a man makes. But with U.S. soccer, the gap is even more stark.

How Powerful Is The Flying Spaghetti Monster?

The “Flying Spaghetti Monster” is the central deity in Pastafarianism, which is actually a protest or parody religion.

Religious satire has been around almost as long as organized religion has, stretching back to Ancient Greek plays in 400 BC.

Today, organizations like the Temple of the Invisible Pink Unicorn, Last Thursdayism, or Jedi-ism are created to point out flaws in belief-based logic, usually related to Christianity.

For example, Last Thursdayism believes that the universe was created last Thursday, parodying the biblical interpretation that the universe is less than 10,000 years old.

Bernie Sanders routed Hillary Clinton in Saturday’s Democratic contests, winning the caucuses in Alaska, Washington and Hawaii by margins ranging from 39 to 64 points and making a dent in Clinton’s delegate lead.

To capture the party’s presidential nomination, Sanders will need a lot more days like Saturday — but a look at the terrain ahead suggests he’s decidedly unlikely to get them. The types of contests slated to be held in the coming weeks could make it tough for Sanders to do well.

The rights of the religious and the secular clash again Wednesday at the Supreme Court, this time in the controversial context of Obamacare and birth control.

The health care law sought to equalize preventive health insurance benefits between the genders. That meant free coverage of birth control for women, with an automatic exemption for houses of worship, like churches — but not for non-profits like religious schools and hospitals. Those non-profits were given a workaround to accommodate their objections, but some say that accommodation still burdens their free exercise of religion.

There are cases before the court from all over the country. The plaintiffs range from large universities to small service organizations, among them the Little Sisters of the Poor, an order of Catholic nuns which runs homes for the elderly poor.
