Lmao the Watcher apology and everyone's reaction to it is literal prove why people stay in abusive relationships.

Fucking brutal lmao but you’re so right. Watcher isn’t apologizing for squeezing money out of their fans and breaking their trust. They’re apologizing for not doing the obvious (using their patreon) and letting the mask slip on their true intentions. Choosing to believe the former just completely ignores why both videos were made in the first place: money.

I'm casual fan, who didn't even know last season of Mystery Files was out, up until this drama. This is not my fandom, I have no stake in this. I'm sick at home at the moment, and I just enjoyed the drama. But I fully expected them to make this video because their careers would be over, I just really didn't expect to everyone just pet their heads like naughty child.

People don't seem to realize that if they cared for their audience they wouldn't come up with the original idea in the first place AND if the backlash wasn't so big they would happily run with it.

They don't give a fuck about you, but they want Steven to keep his Tesla. And actually there is nothing wrong with it, enjoy their videos, as long people realize that.

Comparing accepting an apology from a YouTube channel and staying in an abusive relationship is so wild

I don't know them. They're an entertainment company that messed up and apologized. Be serious.

I'm not serious, I think it's funny how fast everyone backtracked from "fuck you" to "uwu." That's it.

i get people don’t like to pay for things that were once free. but paying people fairly and making a survivable living while making cool things is HARD. even with ads. i think what the fellows are cooking up will be well worth it tbh!!!

With all due respect, Sara, everyone above age of 18, knows that making survivable living is HARD.

And no, we also know that YTers don't all have Mr. Beasts money. YT and Patreon both take cuts. The merch you sell? Also cuts from retailers. The live events? Rent the place, have the crew... WE get that.

What people do not get that instead of finding solutions and different sides of revenue, they are presented with THIS OR BYE type of video.

Everyone saw Steven driving Tesla, eating $1000 burger, traveling to destinations most people can only dream of. And it's not just him - the Ghoul boys want to go to Scotland and England to shoot Ghosts Files? The company has 25 employees, renting massive studios...

TLDR: If you don't have Mr. Beast money - you can't do any of that.

The guys have dreams of making TV quality productions. That's nice. Why was there any expectation (without any survey, mind you, that respectable business would do) that the audience would happily finance that. - And we both know, there wasn't actually. Everyone knew people will drop out. "3 million followers. We only need 100k to make $600 000/mo. No cuts. Easy." And it's really that idea that everyone in the Watcher KNEW, they are sending 2,9 million people to hell, that they are not needed anymore, that rubs people the wrong way.

This was poorly executed at best and I hope, I really really hope y'all have back up plan. I'm not talking next month or 3 months, I'm talking next year, when the few yearly hasty subscriptions that have been made won't be renewed.

P.S. I find extremely disgusting what's have been happening with Patreon. Offering DISCOUNT to already paying hardcore fans (there goes the moot point of "we get people don't like to pay for things that were once free.") is beyond evil.
