The new spaciousness of “roots”-era reggae provided the perfect aural canvas for the increasingly spatial strategies of studio engineers who – to paraphrase Sly Dunbar – now began to work their own form of magic. It was the availability of increasingly sophisticated pieces of sound processing equipment that enabled engineers to elaborate drum & bass into a more radical form of improvisational engineering, one that became known as dub.

not doing great?

  • clean your room
  • open curtains/windows
  • take a shower
  • put on clean clothes
  • get out of your room a bit
  • stretch
  • drink a glass of water
  • get the hard/important stuff out of the way while you have energy
  • set some (any!) goals
  • remember that it is okay to have bad days

I'm not a Star Trek fan. I don't know very much about other dimensions and all that. I'm an old school Catholic. I believe in Hell. I believe that it's more than just murderers and rapists down there. I believe in demons and worms, vile shit in the grease trap of the Universe. And the more I think about it, the more I think that it's not just some place down there. Oh no, that it's right here with us. We just can't perceive it. It's kinda like the country music radio station. It's out there in the air, even if you don't tune into it.
