Last week my friends and I gathered hundreds of bags of clothing and donated them to the #MiddleEasternFriendshipCenter for the influx of #syrianrefugees expected in Vancouver within the next month. It is incredible how much we are all capable of once we start believing in ourselves. The moment I started to search for answers from within, rather than an alternate source, the more I realized my magnetism as an individual. Growing up Orthodox and attending Catholic school til I was 15 I was taught to always put my trust in someone else (God) before putting trust in myself. It wasn't until I was around 18 or 19 that I started to question everything and search for answers from within. Over the years my skepticism led me to so many wonderful sources and outlets filled with tangible answers and logical meaning. I believe we all have the capacity to truly 'be amazing'. **Now that I have your attention** 😎 Every woman has the right do whatever she pleases without judgement from others. If you believe it makes you inherently more "badass" to put other women down in pathetic attempt to elevate yourself, you my dear internal misogynist friend are so wrong. Perhaps your intention IS to elevate other women? Well, your delivery is completely off. If a woman you know is a self-proclaimed or peer appointed "Instagram Model" or "DNB" (Do Nothing Bitch) and she's happy and her actions harm no one, let her do her thing. It's her own right and frankly, not your or anyone's business. However, if at the end of the day you truly believe she and other women you encounter could do better, please encourage and enlighten them to be better. Be PRO-ACTIVE about it: Share and discuss with them some of your favourite scholarly articles, take them with you to volunteer at a soup kitchen, join the Big Brothers Big Sisters of America etc. If we truly want to see other women succeed we must never point our fingers and judge, rather we must take them by the hand and lead together.
