[[Eye of the Storm]] - Closed for red-supremacy
{ ♔ } Stupid. This is simply stupid. What is? This whole campaign, this cold tent but especially this part of the country. Why does it need to be do damn cold? At least they’re having a fire in their tent. Together with his elder brother he sits close to it, trying to catch some of it’s warmth while he had wrapped his arms firmly around him. Just like this he should eventually feel a bit warmer right? Seriously, where are his warmer clothes when he needs them…?
Honestly, he was looking forward at this at first. It wasn’t the first time he was ordered to go on a campaign together with Koumei although it doesn’t happen that often. For him it’s just another opportunity; to show that he can handle things on his own and isn’t as stupid as most think he is. It’s just that he wants to show both his brothers that he’s worthy to stand at their side. Most important: to help them with their dream. And even though he is sometimes worried that this might not work out, he still tries. It’s important for them, isn’t it?
‘’Why?’’
As he finds himself somewhat surprised he first stares stubborn at his older half-brother. Not wanting to get out of the position that was keeping him a bit warm. Not much later he still did so. Wondering what his brother might want from him. It’s not like they’re going to do anything around this hour right? Besides wasn’t he just close enough in case he wants to discuss something?
Why. The stubborn hesitation on his brothers face wasn’t exactly unexpected. He was well aware that the younger hated when they were sent together on campaigns, as though it was some sort of shot at his ability to handle such a thing on his own. Though as the storm raged angrily outside their tent, the older Prince had little care for Kouha’s pride.
He wasn’t exactly in the talkative mood, the cold that filled the tent had caused his already lethargic state to only worsen and as Kouha refused to move he simply took the matter into his own hands.
Shifting from his spot at the fire, he moved lazily along the ground until he was settled behind his brother, letting his larger body envelope him into a cocoon of heat. Lowering his arms he let them wrap with ease around Kouha’s small frame, lowering his head to rest his chin on the mess of red hair below as the light dancing off the fire illuminated the shade so close to his own.
“Because I refuse to let your stubborn nature get you sick” he said simply, letting crimson pools stare into the fire as he just held his brother in a way reminiscent of when they were much younger; when Koumei felt a need to protect the other from the world despite knowing Kouha could handle anything it threw at him.
“The storm does not look like it will let up any time soon. It might be best if we slept here by the fire tonight, I will make sure I keep it stoked all night” He promised, wishing his own emaciated body had more heat to give, more to keep his brother safe from the howling winds and piercing snow outside the walls of their tent. Were his end to come in quiet slumber as cold claimed him so that his brother would be warm, then he would see no more a fitting end. Of course he knew they were hardly at risk of hypothermia that night, but the sentiment stood. He rarely slept as it was, to sacrifice a night to stoke the fire for Kouha was like batting an eye.
