Israel has killed more children in Gaza since October than in four years of worldwide conflict

Like it's been said before that when Israelis and Zionists cry "why do you single out Israel?!", they should in fact be reminded that Israel singles itself out. I mean, who commits violence at this magnitude and then bemoans being the victim??

And reminder that a) it's now March, and the reported child death toll is now over 13,000. And b) the number up there is just the officially reported number. It does NOT include children who are missing (there's more than 7,000 people missing under the rubble), or children who have died but have no one left to report their death (because their whole extended family is dead right alongside them), or the children who died but whose deaths have not yet been officially recorded for a multitude of reasons (severely limited communications, distance to traverse, a completely decimated health authority, etc).

Thirteen thousand? is the absolute bare minimum number of murdered Gazan kids. The real figure is probably much, much higher. Thirteen thousand are just the ones that have been officially verified.

Israel bombing the proclaimed “safe-zone” of Rafah is a genocidal tactic we have seen before;

In April 2009, the Sri Lankan military had proposed safe-zones to Tamil citizens, pushing them into the Mu’l’li-vaaykkaal region of North-Eastern Sri Lanka, near the Kilinochchi district. Upon urging Tamil refugees to this very small area of land on the coast, Sri Lanka bombed the location and surrounding areas 25 times. These bombings targeted hospitals and humanitarian operations dedicated to helping Tamil civilians displaced and wounded. Sri Lanka actually admitted to bombing the proposed safe zones, after images were leaked to the UN— but claimed the raids were aimed at Tamil Tiger militants and not civilians.

The Tamil resistance group, the Tamil Tigers, were also branded as an international Terrorist organisation by the United States, UN and Britain in 2001, for resisting anti-Tamil violence by the Sri Lankan Sinhalese state.

Israel funded Sri Lanka during the course of the Sri Lankan civil war— the Tamil genocide— providing military training and armament to Sri Lanka and thus knowingly aiding the genocide of over 40,000 Tamil people.

ISRAEL are repeating the same genocidal tactics they had aided in Sri Lanka just over 20 years ago.

like i genuinely need someone to explain to me like im 5 how *telling protestors to wear masks during their large gatherings that are being extensively surveilled by a militarized police force* is fed behavior like im not joking when i say im baffled rn and would genuinely like to hear what the explanation is and if it is in any way coherent

On Dec. 1, a woman immolated herself with a Palestinian flag outside the Israeli consulate in Atlanta.

Now, according to the Atlanta Fire Rescue Department, the woman — referred to in their report as “Jane Doe” — is alive and “in stable condition” at Grady Memorial Hospital, where she has been since the immolation.

After repeated requests for her name, the department stated to this reporter in an email that it “does not disclose the identities of victims”. Repeated inquiries to Grady, which is a public hospital, went unanswered. The hospital houses the Walter L. Ingram Burn Center.

“Jane Doe” is 27.

When asked if they had made any comment to tell the public that she was still alive this entire time, the official at Atlanta Fire Rescue Department said they “shared the last updated with local media via email on 12/21/23. The release stated: ‘The victim remains hospitalized in critical condition. The security guard, who attempted to assist the burn victim, has been released from the hospital.’” Several internet searches on that quote produce no results. This would also indicate that "Jane Doe" went from critical to stable condition without public notice. 

Aaron Bushnell immolated himself at the Israeli embassy in Washington, D.C. on Sunday, explaining “I will no longer be complicit in genocide” and shouting “Free Palestine!” repeatedly as he burned alive. So, his case — unlike many other self-immolations including Gregory Levey, Raymond Moules, Timothy T. Brown, Malachi Ritscher and others — has received some attention. Thus, “Jane Doe” being ignored fits with the usual pattern. Bushnell is the exception — probably because he livestreamed it. See “Ignoring Immolators Lulls the Society to Sleep.”

As Bushnell was burning himself alive, an officer pointed a gun at him, barking orders as if he constituted a threat. A security guard, Michael Harris, sustained injuries working to rescue “Jane Doe” — but there were similarities, where she was actually viewed as a potential threat.

At one point, the police report for “Jane Doe” refers to it as being a case of “arson”.

Much of the media coverage and general discussion of her self-immolation in December focused on if she had done damage. The Atlanta Police Chief said: “We believe this building remains safe, and we do not see any threat here.” The Israeli government released a statement: “It is tragic to see the hate and incitement toward Israel expressed in such a horrific way.”

Police records indicate that they obtained a search warrant and entered an apartment they believed to be associated with “Jane Doe” — initially using a drone:

When pressed for more information in compliance with an Open Records Request under Georgia law, Atlanta Fire Rescue Department claimed: “There is an ongoing and active investigation for the incident in question, which is why the only releasable information has been shared via the incident report. Investigative documentation is not available for release until the investigation is closed.”

sometimes catch myself thinking "of course this would happen, of course israel would open fire at starving people trying to get aid, of course the airdropped aid would fall in a place it's not supposed to fall, of course more and more children are dying of starvation and malnutrition" and then i have to remind myself to stay angry at everything that is happening because even if all of it follows the despicable and clear path of genocide, it should be resisted every step of the way until we can get it to stop

even though israel is simply following the plans it has already declared to raze gaza to the ground and ethnically cleanse its people, even though we are watching nothing but an accelerated version of the kind of strategy that has been employed against palestinians for 75 years, even though the leaders of the world are complicit while the people of the world continue to protest, even though it has been five months, i refuse to normalize with this. none of this is normal. this is monstrous, depraved and sick. its nothing new but we'll keep saying it, and i won't forget any of it.

been thinking a lot about anticipatory grief lately. i love you so much that i know losing you will devastate me. i haven't lost you yet but i already miss you. we still have time, but it won't be enough. i think about what i would say at your funeral, and say some of it to you now cause i need you to know how loved you are before you go. you will go where i cannot follow, but you will never really leave me. it won't make it hurt less but it is a part of healing somehow.

you know that arundhati roy quote that goes "can the hungry go on a hunger strike? non-violence is a piece of theatre. you need an audience. what can you do when you have no audience? people have the right to resist annihilation” but now i realise sometimes your audience are just people who will witness your annihilation and simply choose to say that unfortunately your blood greases the wheels of the world and simply register the fact that they have witnessed and condemned your annihilators as their duty while disavowing any attempt you make at resistance. palestinian journalists can broadcast till the end of their world and it would not move the needle on this kind of audience.
