He smirked as he put his hands on Carol’s waist, keeping his face close to hers.

She wound her arms around his neck to hold him close. She kissed him for as long as she could hold her balance, and then she lowered herself back onto her heels.

Jim smiled as he dipped his finger in the paint, again and put it on his lips. He wiped some of the excess off before softly planting a kiss on Carol’s neck.

"You missed." She murmured. She dipped a fingertip into the paint, and drew a little arrow, pointing to her lips. "I didn't think you'd need help, but apparently I was wrong."

He froze for a moment,

shocked that his plan was actually working out. He quickly gathered himself and gave a smirk before motioning for her to kiss the other cheek.

Carol resisted the urge to run her tongue over her lips. Instead she obliged, shifting slightly to press a kiss to Jim's other cheek.

Iris made it a habit of walking through the ship, for no other reason than to clear her mind. She didn’t have a lot of moments where she could be in relative peace — so being awake in the early morning was the best time of her day.

The telepath frequented the observations decks, loving the fact that she could watch space go by and have a relatively empty mind while doing it. So Iris walked into the deck without thinking anyone else would be there, but she quickly saw the blonde hair of Carol Marcus, and she flushed slightly.

"I’m sorry… I’ve interrupted, haven’t I?"

Carol shook her head, gesturing for Iris to come in. She didn't mind someone else there; she didn't mind the company. She had come here for quiet, to lose herself for a little while, but that didn't necessary mean that she wanted to be alone.

She turned back to the view, watching the stars go by, waiting for Iris to come and sit down. The observation deck was empty save for the two of them, and though she hadn't really spoke to Iris much, she knew she was a nice person.

"How're you?"

He can see her confusion in the slight furrow of her brow. It’s good to know he can still surprise people sometimes. He settles down in one of the plush seats, his posture terrible. He watches the shiver of blue play around the edges of the windows - they’re at warp, but a steady pace, there’s no rush.

Leonard feels a little shiver at the sheer vastness of it all, and turns his gaze from the stars flying past to Carol.

"Been a long day," he replies after a moment, exhaling slowly, "An’ I might not  be the biggest fan of space, but even I can’t deny it’s pretty damn beautiful."

He wonders how she’s doing. Her own father betrayed them, and was then gruesomely murdered in front of her. Seems like everyone on this ship has their demons, and he feels sorry for her knowing that hers are known by almost everyone. At least he can keep his past to himself.

Carol tucks her legs under herself on her seat, her fingers wrapping around the mug of coffee she brought with her. She turns her gaze back to the vastness of space for a moment, captivated by the stars that glitter just outside. Some of them aren't too far away; just a few minutes at the speed they're going now. Sometimes, it's enough to make her head hurt.

She looks over at Leonard, and gives him a slight smile. "Busy down in medical?" She spends more time there than she maybe should; she's always burning herself. "Pretty damn beautiful's quite the understatement."

She looks back at the view, and sighs softly. Maybe it is an understatement, but she thinks that's how she'd describe it too. There's no way to do the view from her seat justice, but that comes almost close.

It's easy to escape up here, especially when she chooses one of the higher up observation decks. People think the view from there's not as good, so it's always quiet, but she's beginning to like it. And with a scene so pretty, too, it's easy to lose herself.
