Nico's creative corner

I'm Nico, and I'm a silly cosplayer from Sweden who prefer the light from the sewing machine rather then actual sunlight.

Announcement time! (a bit late though because I have been too busy </3) For the third year in a row I will be competing in the Swedish Cosplay Championship in 2018! :D I'm in because of my Golden Ticket I won at Malmöfestivalen with my Alucard costume. I'm super excited but also slightly terrified since the competition is seriously fierce this time! (It was fierce the last two times as well but I will never stop being terrified) For this competition I would have loved to wear the Sakizou version of Kefka I've been working on, but unfortunately, Sakizou designs are not premitted, so I'm going to make the next best thing: Original Kefka Palazzo from Final Fantasy 6. At first I disliked his design so much (such hideous colors) but the urge to portray this amazing villan on stage was strong enough to convince me, and now I can't wait to get started <3

Douglas Adams is the best when it comes to describe characters

they need to teach classes on Douglas Adams analogies okay

“He leant tensely against the corridor wall and frowned like a man trying to unbend a corkscrew by telekinesis.”

“Stones, then rocks, then boulders which pranced past him like clumsy puppies, only much, much bigger, much, much harder and heavier, and almost infinitely more likely to kill you if they fell on you.”

“He gazed keenly into the distance and looked as if he would quite like the wind to blow his hair back dramatically at that point, but the wind was busy fooling around with some leaves a little way off.”

“It looked only partly like a spaceship with guidance fins, rocket engines and escape hatches and so on, and a great deal like a small upended Italian bistro.”

“If it was an emotion, it was a totally emotionless one. It was hatred, implacable hatred. It was cold, not like ice is cold, but like a wall is cold. It was impersonal, not as a randomly flung fist in a crowd is impersonal, but like a computer-issued parking summons is impersonal. And it was deadly - again, not like a bullet or a knife is deadly, but like a brick wall across a motorway is deadly.”

And, of course: “The ships hung in the sky in much the same way that bricks don’t.”

the one that will always stay with me is “Arthur Dent was grappling with his consciousness the way one grapples with a lost bar of soap in the bath,” i feel like that was the first time i really understood what you could do with words.

I will reblog this every time I see it because these are some of my favorite sentences in the English language.

So Närcon was a thing that happened. It was great. The end.

No, but really, it was such an awesome weekend and I had a great time! Sure, it wasn't perfect. My Trunks shoes broke apart after just a few steps and my Alucard pants just decided to flip the table on me and ripped in the back and half of the buttons just flew of, so yeah, fun times. I don't handle stress very well, and cosplay malfunctions is a great way for me to completely lose my cool, but luckily I had awesome friends there to give me hugs and emergency thread and needle <3

Despite that I was so excited to meet and spend time with so many great people. I have really grown tired of always being an awkward wall flower, and I really want to work on being more social at cons since there's so many people I so seldom get to meet otherwise. I think I'm getting there~

I wanna especially thank my fellow NCC judges Stickweeds Arts and CraftsSandra Tails Ibelinn Cosplay Kamui Cosplay Hellu Cosplay for being so amazing and fun to hang with <3 The judging was really difficult, but an incredible experience and I'm so glad I got to be a part of it all!

A huge congratulations to TinYasuo Cosplay for taking home the crown at the NCC and to Scarlett Costuming and SFX and Rullarinkeli Cosplay for the second and third place! And to all the other contestants as well, you were all amazing and did a freaking great job!!!

So yeah, that's about it. I'll hope everyone who where at Närcon had a great weekend as well <3

(I never managed to take any selfies myself, so I shamelessly stole this from Kamui ;))

I finished Trunks jacket a couple of days ago! I had to wait for the Capsule Corp patch to arrive in the mail before I could finish it, so it took longer then I planned for :p Only thing left now is the lovely Toriyama boots and a sword and I'm good to go~

And this might seem silly to you, but I'm very happy with the wig. Even though it's a very simple hair style, this is the first time I've SUCCESSFULLY managed to cut and style a wig by myself, and for that I am very proud. I'm really not good with hair and have a history of ruining wigs so this feels nice =w=

Throwback to Cosplay SM again. I really, really enjoyed being up on that stage, performing my skit for everyone to see and throwing my glitter around ~~

Sandman is something that is very close to my heart and it have made me so happy beyond belief to hear from so many people that my cosplay performance made them want to check the comics out <3

Anyhow, I saved this photo for last because I just think it's so cool and beautiful how it really captures Dream as the Sandman. Thank you Robert Johannesson for taking it!

So school is now over and I can finally have a rest.

Right now I am feeling very worn out and the thought of cosplaying has not been as fun as it should be. My self esteem comes and goes and I don't think I want to compete in anything big for a while. I have decided to take a break this summer. Not from cosplaying all together (I would go nuts) just from doing big projects. Instead I have made a little line-up of simpler, casual cosplays that I can tinker with during the summer. No dead-lines, no pressure. Just for fun :)

So here are my summer plans:

* Yuri from Yuri! on ice with lovely Marugitto Cosplay as Victor <3 * Trunks from Dragon Ball (I really just wanted to make his jacket but thought what the heck ;)) * Lomax from Parallax (because that pink madness!) * Gundham from Danganronpa 2 (Because he is the greatest character to ever grace this world and I just can not ♥♥)

This will be a great opportunity to learn how to style wigs too XD

Have a great summer y'all! :D

Next up, remember the Alucard cosplay I posted about forever ago? I finished it and wore it to Kodachicon two weeks ago! I competed with it in their SM qualifier contest and placed third!! very happy about that ♥

I really just wanted to be on stage and perform my skit, which you can see here https://youtu.be/pD8ZqFa9tC8

I had a bit of a wig malfunction at the end but other than that I think it went well :) I didn't get the chanse to have a proper shoot with the costume on but there were a few people in the audience who took some pretty sweet pictures that I will upload soon ~~

There, school is coming to an end and the stress is slowly fading away so I though I would start with some updates about what's been going on for the last couple of weeks!

First up, huge announcement! After I got back from the Swedish championship I was asked to be the Swedish judge at the Nordic Cosplay Championship this summer at Närcon! I am very honored and excited about this and I hope I can make a good job <3

Hi there, long time no post. Sorry about that. I've been (and still am) very busy with our final school project which is due next week. A bit has happend since last time and I would like to share it with you all, but right now the stress is to high and I'm not feeling well enough to really sit down and make a proper post about it. But know that it will come soon, when I'm less stressed about everything. Until then, stay beautiful
