Also I may remember this wrong, but psych studies indicate that ignoring/leaving kids on their own when they start crying, or try in other ways to call out for their parents attention is actually harmful to kids, because by having their requests for attention in a stressful situation ignored, they perceive their parents as uninterested in them and their pain and it puts them in a favourable position to develop attachment-related anxieties and similar.

tl;dr children entirely depend on parents and they literally don’t have the cognitive abilities to manipulate them. If you think of kids as tiny manipulators who wanna ruin your life, don’t have kids. It’s THAT simple

This is important!

Okay, guys. I’m from South Africa and as most of y’all know, Black Panther just came out. There are millions of underprivileged kids that have yet to see a movie theatre in their lives in this country. So, this morning I was on my way to work and I was listening to the radio in the car, one of the biggest radio stations in my country (94.7 Highveld Stereo- which I never listen to mainly because of the music) but they had started with a goal to send about a thousand underprivileged kids to go and watch Black Panther and it started of small. 

But then then they got to R175 000 with additional lunch and snack donations and the Lottery came on and doubled the figure. 

I don’t know why, but it struck a chord with me, as I’m sure with many other South Africans this morning. These kids, never having been to a movie theatre before, are going to see a BLACK superhero on-screen WITH South African actors. Say what you want about that movie, but it’s changing fucking lives and allowing children, CHILDREN OF COLOUR to dream again. And I say this with confidence because things didn’t magically bounce back after apartheid had ended. 

It didn’t end there, though. The movie theatre that they had planned on taking the kids to promised to TRIPLE the amount of tickets they had bought.

Thank you, Marvel. POC kids are dreaming again in South Africa, kids with the same traditions as seen in the movie. It’s a small gesture and probably minuscule on a worldly scale but I’m proud, because I have never been, to be South African. Or African, for that matter.

They’re currently sending over 8500 underprivileged kids to cinemas.

So, uh… Finally finished my gift for @xyriath for the RoyEd Gift Exchange! I gotta say I was absolutely flailing with excitement over which AU to pick for this before I ended up settling on this Vaguely Historical* Sort Of Fantasy Royalty AU. Featuring Roy being ridiculous courtly and romantic.

Sorry it took me so long, I wanted it done days ago but I had some issues getting the shading even close to right… I’ve been second guessing a lot of my decisions on this, honestly, and I’m not really satisfied with how it came out, but I hope you like it anyway? ^^;; I’ll probably doodle some kind of bonus in the next couple days if I don’t get busy with something again…

* Only vaguely historical because Erin does not have the background knowledge to make accurate decisions here and was very confused by her research. In hindsight making this some sort of early 1800s AU probably would have worked out better…

This is really not okay.

I think some people fail to realize that men can be sexually assaulted, too, and not just by other men. This girl shoves him against the wall and slaps him three fucking times when he pushes her away. Heck, he has to push her away twice before she backs off for a moment. Then she goes right back to kissing him.

If the genders were reversed, everyone on this site would be flipping a shit. And if anyone dares to tell me that it’s different when a girl does it to a guy, I will personally write you a three-page essay on why it is still not okay.

Yeah, this is actually a video produced in Denmark in 2010 as part of a campaign on the subject of violence in relationships. Of the five videos produced, four of them featured female perpetrators of violence because the bigger taboo surrounding discussion of female-on-male violence. While it is an important message, it’s also important that people realize this is staged.

i hope you reblog this in hopes of erasing the taboo, bc women can be just as aggressive & forceful & violent as men. gender does NOT matter when it comes to forcing oneself on another sexually or any other way. it is NOT okay.

This is not hate against women or feminists, this is the same thing as defending women’s rights and calling attention to a very real issue. Just wanted to point that out. Women are cool, men are cool, some of each are not, those people are wrong, let’s be right. :)
