the fact that they had time to set this all up without the cats absolutely decimating it is a feat in and of itself
Please join me in appreciating my favorite part of the Avatar pilot.
“I’m speaking to you from my heart. Look, I don’t know if I’m going to have a career after this, but fuck that. Today is about innocent people who were halfway through their process, we don’t know what George Floyd could have achieved, we don’t know what Sandra Bland could have achieved, but today we’re going to make sure that won’t be an alien thought to our young ones. Every black person in here remembered when another person reminded you that you were black. So none of you out there, all those protesters on the other side, protesting against what we want to do, protesting against what we want to try and achieve, burn you, this is so vital. I need you to understand how painful this shit is. I need you to understand how painful it is to be reminded every day that your race means nothing and that isn’t the case anymore, that was never the case anymore.” John Boyega at The Black Lives Matter protest in Hyde Park June 3rd 2020
in primary school we had a creative writing assignment where we had to ‘write about a character in a new, strange situation!’ and i wrote about a squid that was somehow teleported from the ocean to the forest floor and slowly choked to death for two pages and i’ll never quite forget my teacher’s face because it turns out she wanted ‘this new school is scary, i hope i make friends!’ and not a graphic description of a squid dying
well that’s just the risk you take if you decide to teach creative writing
i’ve never watched doctor who but i’ve always loved the concept of weeping angels
Best cat award.
I was literally just whispering, “This is the best video ever recorded,” when she said it.

My old hyperfixations:
being an eldest daughter is like u only unlock certain emotions once you leave ur house
So up until last year, I was an ALT in Kobe City, Japan. I have some very good friends there who are facing a very dire situation with the country’s incredibly late reaction to coronavirus.
I have been basically yelling at ANYONE who is vaguely listening - I even reached out to public broadcasters in Australia. One of them, SBS, featured this video on one of their nationally broadcasted tv shows on Tuesday night.
Since I recorded the audio for this last week, the number of coronavirus cases has MORE THAN DOUBLED to over 10 000 cases. Granted, more social distancing is happening as of this week, and many more people are being allowed to work from home (although many in a limited capacity), but this was an accurate representation of the situation two weeks ago. This footage was taken two weeks ago in Kobe and around Japan by my friends who were STILL being forced to go to work at the time.
I’ve heard many more horror stories since then of people being turned away from hospitals, refusing to test for COVID-19 unless their blood oxygen levels dropped so low they required a ventilator, and having to show up for non-essential work despite the nation-wide state of emergency.
Shit’s FUCKED my dudeS
Shengsi, an archipelago of almost 400 islands at the mouth of China’s Yangtze river, holds a secret shrouded in time – an abandoned fishing village being reclaimed by nature. These photos by Tang Yuhong, a creative photographer based in Nanning, take us into this lost village on the beautiful archipelago.
