What's so funny to me about Louis's and Harry's jealousy is that they've always been so chill about so much in terms of flirting and being touchy with other people but occasionally there's a random thing they perceive as crossing the line and they're absolutely PISSED lmao

In the 2011/12 Cambio interview, where they spoke about their Valentines Day plans, Niall said that Harry had been asking Louis for a date in the Eiffel Tower. Did this date take place? Is it the same one where Harry walked out of a restaurant with black ring?

We have a surprising amount of information on Valentine’s Day 2012! 

The filming of the Cambio interview took place on January 31, 2012 in Santa Monica, California.

This interview is so interesting. The question was about their dream Valentine, and Louis is quick to answer, but not state a single thing about his girlfriend. In fact, he chooses to talk about the trip the band is taking to Paris instead. Louis then directs the question to his bandmates and says, “If you could have anyone in the world?” Niall says he’d like to date Miranda Cosgrove, and Liam says his dream Valentine is Kim Kardashian, rather normal-sounding straight teenage boy answers to give. Then Harry is asked. Harry clearly has no plans of naming some celebrity girl, so, he puts his hands on Louis’ back, looks him directly in the eyes and says, “you.” The boys all agree Louis and Harry are cute together. Zayn then says he is going to be mysterious and not answer. It is finally time for the question to come back to Louis. One of the most under-appreciated moments in the video happens next. Liam asks Louis if he has any “special guest” that will be making an appearance (meaning Eleanor). He gives Louis a teasing laugh and Louis gives him a dirty look. Before he can answer, Niall says, “Well, he (points at Harry), just finished asking him out to the Eiffel Tower.” Then Louis says, “Looks like my Valentine is Harry. I don’t have a choice!”

I am not sure we can confirm they had actual plans to to go the Eiffel Tower, but they already stated they had plans to go to Paris, so I think it is possible Niall was kind of making a joke. They spent almost the entire day in interviews and signings, then went to dinner, then back to London. 

Moving onto actual Valentine’s Day, we were blessed with the only Louis + Harry interviews in existence. Much flirting. Towards the end it sounds like Louis says, “Thank you for that dangerous slave/Dave,” to which Harry replies, “I’m going to get you for that.”

This was also Valentine’s Day. They had a signing at Virgin Records.

Also that day.

Louis and Harry later the same day.

In the evening, the band was photographed leaving Le Relais de l’Entrcôte, a steakhouse in Paris. They actually mention this steakhouse in the Mario Kart interview a few days later. In the pictures it is clearly visible Harry has a ring he was not wearing earlier in the day. 

Since the whole band went to the steakhouse along with many members of their team, I find it unlikely that Louis would have gifted it to him in the restaurant, but it seems like it might have been something given to Harry earlier in the day, in private. Harry wasn’t wearing the ring at the interview or signing earlier that day.

The band then returned to London very late that night, and Harry went out with Nick Grimshaw. Gryles enthusiasts love to use this as proof of a romantic relationship, but Alexa Chung and others were, in fact, with them. Additionally, I’ve mentioned before that Harry would often spend time with Grimmy when Louis was with Eleanor, or at least when he was supposed to be with Eleanor. I think Harry’s friendship with Nick was so widely covered/photographed to create a young single party boy image for Harry, as well as a sort of separation from Louis, but I also think Nick’s friendship was a comfort to him, and a distraction. Nick is by far his closest out gay friend.

Two days after Valentine’s Day, on February 16th, the Mario Kart interview was filmed. Harry wasn’t wearing the black ring in this video.

The interviewer brings up Valentine’s Day, and a lot happens. She wants to know if it was a romantic occasion for the boys. Louis’ immediate reaction is to look off camera at someone. His face falls. Zayn’s immediate reaction is to check on Louis, and upon seeing who he is looking at, look as well. Liam immediately gets a smirk on his face and looks to Harry to start shaking his head.

While discussing their Valentine’s Day plans, Harry states, “I came home to a cold and empty bedroom.” Harry looks directly at Louis when he says this. They openly lived together at this time. Louis’ reaction is to reach back and squeeze Harry’s ankle, then turn back around with a concerned expression on his face.

From there, the interviewer reminds Harry that he did go out, since there were pap pictures. I think this moment proves that hanging out with Grimmy was not Harry’s first choice for how to spend Valentine’s Day night. It is also proof that Louis was not home when he got home “to a cold and empty bedroom.”

And that was Valentine’s Day 2012.

Hi darling. Welcome to the fandom! I'm so glad my blog is helpful. I'm not sure I have anything about Simon being closeted because pretty much everything I have on Simon is lumped into my tag SIMON COWELL IS A BAG OF DICKS. He's been rumored to be dating (or has dated) a man named Paul McKenna and IIRC there are photos of the two of them together on vacation. McKenna's house is Los Angeles is also the one that was rented for Louis in 2016 as his "public house" here.
