Ah…. now it makes sense. But I don’t believe he stuck about the full 24 years…. the full ‘night!’ Did he? Spend 24 years hanging around before season 10? Maybe he did? I mean he does hang about places. .. 900 on trenzalore. .. 4.5 billion in a confession dial.
Or did he spend a bit of time with her give her the screwdriver and encourage her to enjoy her 24 remaining years with more adventures? Before she has to go to the library?
The second option is what I’m thinking. I’ve heard some people say that the 24 years is the time where River’s new Big Finish episodes will come in. She’s supposed to be recording some with the 8th Doctor. But it’s all timey wimey, so who knows.

“You better not be causing any trouble for anyone here…” She then laughed, grinning. “Not unless we need to cause trouble.” She might have said that she didn’t want to go anywhere dangerous, and that a peaceful planet was a nice change, but they could easily find trouble, even without causing it.
Especially on a planet that didn’t have any danger. “Come on, let’s go and see what we can find, Doctor.”
A quiet trip had been his intention after all, he wasn't going to chance it by deliberately causing trouble. That would be stupid, even for him. Still, if someone else caused trouble he wasn’t about to back away either. He wouldn’t be The Doctor if he did.
“Last time I was here they were in the middle o’ the festive o’ life. Only celebrate it every hundred years. But it is truly amazin’. Remind me t’ take you sometime.” He babbled, subconsciously slipping his hand into hers. “There should be a market ‘round here somewhere. Good place t’ shop for gifts, they tend t’ sell all tha’ kind o’ tat.”
