Concentration camps are opening in Russia.

Do not let us die again, we where left once before because of a part of ourselves we can’t control.

Don’t let is die, don’t ignore our cries.

LGBT concentration camps are Chechen President Ramzan Kadyrov solution to the “gay problem”. This is real. This is happening right now

We are grateful to everyone who contacted us and asked how they can help. What do we need now? - Help us to spread the information about the fact that the Russian LGBT Network is ready to evacuate people. Please think for whom this information can be useful. You can spread the information publicly or personally. Everyone who needs help can contact us by email or call the Hotline (8 800 555 73 74). The call is free all over Russia. - In accordance with the Russian legislation, every citizen can apply to the Investigative Committee with the demand to investigate the information about the crime published in mass media. We encourage everyone to apply (the template of the claim will be published tomorrow).
We understand that many people want to help those in need. But please remember that any uncoordinated actions can put in additional danger people in need and those who are ready to help. Therefore, we do not recommend to collect the addresses of people who are ready to provide temporarily shelter.
Be aware, that the situation with the human rights in the North Caucasus is truly difficult. Now people’s lives are endangered and the only way to help is the evacuation. The Russian LGBT Network has the necessary resources to evacuate people, there is a team that already makes every effort to safe lives. That is why we ask everyone to share with us the information about people in need and any offers of assistance.

the highlighting was mine- don’t dm people asking if they’re ok and if they know about this. even if you think your messaging system is secure. encryption is a two way street, and if their end is NOT secured it doesn’t really matter what your end has. especially since those arrested have had their phones confiscated, you do not want to give the authorities any more evidence. however, if you are in a position to do so, posting about it publicly will increase the odds that those who need this information see it.

Shit.

This is not even the news being news, as a person who can read Russian I can sadly confirm the information. Also, seconding the reblog before mine - DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT MESSAGE PEOPLE DIRECTLY ABOUT IT. YOU CAN PUT THEM IN DANGER BY DOING THAT. Especially if using any Russia-based messaging app/social media. Russian police are assholes they are known to confiscate things they are not allowed to confiscate and request and get the information they are not allowed to get and generally ignore the same laws they are supposedly enforcing. The less evidence they can get by legal or illegal means, the better.

There is not a lot of people from Russia subscribed to me or even a lot of just people who are subscribed to me in general, but the more information is spread about this, the better. If you know any LGBT people living in Russia or Chechnya (Especially Chechnya!) you probably should reblog this.

Good thing I am not living in Russia right now.

Если вы являетесь человеком нетрадиционной ориентиции и/или гендера проживающим в Росии или Чечне(Особенно Чечне!) вам лучше прочитать этот пост по крайней мере с помощью гуглопереводчика прямо сейчас.

Hundreds of men suspected of being gay are being abducted, tortured and even killed in the southern Russian republic of Chechnya:

Russian newspapers and human rights groups report that more than 100 gay men have been detained “in connection with their non-traditional sexual orientation, or suspicion of such” as part of a purge. Several people were also reportedly feared dead following violent raids.

Tanya Lokshina of Human Rights Watch wrote: “For several weeks now, a brutal campaign against LGBT people has been sweeping through Chechnya.

Two television reporters, a waiter, and numerous other men ranging in age from 16 to 50 have been reported missing from the state of Chechnya, in Russia.

In one instance, a 16-year-old boy was detained but reappeared later with severe injuries from being beaten.

Human rights activists in the area believe that authorities have been arresting and killing the missing men, all of whom are believed to be gay.

There’s also a petition HERE, but I don’t imagine that that will change something.

Reblogging again for more information because it is really better to be informed about those things.

I’ve just checked the official website of Russian LGBT network, and there are news from today:

“We receive alarming reports from Chechnya that unknown people are calling those who are now hiding from persecution and offer help with traveling abroad. These people call themselves the employees of the LGBT organization and invite to come to Krasnodar and discuss the details.
The Russian LGBT network officially states that our representatives in the regions do not communicate and are not authorized to call someone. All communication is conducted ONLY through the Hotline and mail kavkaz@lgbtnet.org. We warn that such proposals for assistance are not related to the work of the Russian LGBT network and may pose a threat to life.

I don’t have enough people following me, please boost this, this is terrifying

Anonymous asked:

Do you have any posts on what you don't like about Movie Bellatrix, or could you explain why? I thought movie bellatrix was ok. Love the blog by the way xx

Thanks so much!

Apologies for the amount of time this response took. I couldn’t actually find many posts on the topic (besides this HPC - if anyone knows of other book!Bellatrix vs movie!Bellatrix posts, I would love to be linked to them) so I slapped one together myself.

Disclaimer: This post is not about Helena Bonham Carter not being a good actress (she is) or about which version of Bellatrix people personally liked more.  This is a mixture of book-vs-movie fact comparisons and personal opinion.

  • In the movies, Bellatrix is ‘crazy’ in a hammy sort of way. A kooky woman with floofy hair who ran around on tabletops - silly, out of control, and with an occasional childlike insolence.  She literally says “Blech!” when Voldemort mentions Wizard-Muggle intermarriage, and shouts, “Somebody needs to do the washing!” when Voldemort invites Neville to be a Death Eater. Not only does it seem like she’s trying to be the comic relief, she’s also practically interrupting Voldemort mid-speech.
  • Helena Bonham Carter falls into a small group of actors on the Potter films who looked perfect for the role on paper, but Something Happened and they ended up quite different from their initial book incarnation, despite the actor’s likely capability to portray the character to perfection if properly scripted and directed. (I’m looking at Ralph Fiennes, and possibly Emma Thompson, Timothy Spall, and Natalia Tena. Tena should have been let loose a little; Carter perhaps reined in a bit more. Helen McCrory, who was originally meant to play Bellatrix and ended up as Narcissa Malfoy, recently took a literal blood bath in Penny Dreadful. It makes one wonder how she would have done in the role.)  As with a lot of characters in the movie adaption, the subtlety in Bellatrix was lost.
  • Or to put it another way, Carter basically ended up playing a version of herself, as occasionally tends to happen in her movies….
  • She wasn’t styled well either - the books never mention a rat’s nest of hair or any tooth problems, which could likely have been fixed by magic and don’t suit her background as a proud aristocrat. Those problems are on the makeup team, though.

A lot of this is how she was scripted, of course, which gave her much less gravity than she had in the books:

Movies: ‘Cissy, put the boys in the cellar! I’m going to have a conversation with this one, girl to girl.’

Books: ‘You need more persuasion?’ she said, her chest rising and falling rapidly. ‘Very well - take the smallest one. Let him watch while we torture the little girl. I’ll do it.’

Movies: ‘Neville Longbottom, isn’t it? How’s mum and dad? ‘

Books: ‘Longbottom?’ repeated Bellatrix, and a truly evil smile lit her gaunt face. ‘Why, I have had the pleasure of meeting your parents, boy.  [….] No, let’s see how long Longbottom lasts before he cracks like his parents….”

Movies:  ‘How dare you speak his name! YOU FILTHY HALF BLOOD!’

Books: ‘You dare speak his name?’ whispered Bellatrix. [….]   ‘Shut your mouth! You dare speak his name with your unworthy lips, you dare besmirch it with your half-blood’s tongue, you dare - ’

Bellatrix in the books -

  • - as shrieking and prone to baby-talk as she was - wasn’t so funny. She had an arrogance that oozed her blue-blood upbringing (a woman with thick, shining dark hair and heavily hooded eyes, who was sitting in the chained chair as though it were a throne). She spoke in a grandiose fashion at times (”You dare speak his namewith your unworthy lips, you dare besmirch it with your half-blood’stongue…“) and before her imprisonment was calm and self-assured in her fervor (“The Dark Lord will rise again, Crouch! Throw us into Azkaban; we will wait!”).
  • There’s only a few times we really see her lose composure - when someone has insulted Voldemort (“He dares - he dares - ’ shrieked Bellatrix incoherently, ‘he stands there - filthy half-blood - “) and when she thinks Voldemort is going to be angry (‘LIAR!’ she shrieked, but he could hear the terror behind the anger now. ‘YOU’VE GOT IT, POTTER, AND YOU WILL GIVE IT TO ME! Accio prophecy! ACCIO PROPHECY!’‘).
  • Ultimately, Bellatrix should been more weighty character; she should have been terrifying rather than campy; she should have commanded a sense of real power as Voldemort’s second-in-command. And I didn’t get any of that from her movie adaption. :)

“Bellatrix has really good fun, and she’s been a bit of surprise to me, in fact,” Bohnam Carter said. “It wasn’t really there on the page. When I took it on, I found there wasn’t a huge amount to go by in the script, and I read the book and she wasn’t necessarily on the page there either, so I did ask [four-time “Potter” film director] David Yates if I could bring a bit of other things or are these the Bibles? And he said yes, certainly, and apparently J.K. Rowling was very pleased with it when she saw it, and the childish dimension and the fact that she’s totally savage, that was a bit of departure.
“I just felt she had to make an impression because there wasn’t much time in which to do so. And she had to be terrifying. She needed to be somebody you didn’t know what to feel towards. One moment she’s horribly revolting but then also weirdly sexy, maybe, or just disturbing to the mind when you watch her. There’s a lot of decaying, too, with the bad teeth….”

what they did with the ages in the harry potter movies really weirds me out

  • lily and james died when they were twenty-one. let me say that again. lily and james died when they were twenty-one. the movies made them look like they were in their forties which took away from the tragedy of their really young deaths (I’ve outlived them by five years whaaaaaat)
  • I love alan rickman, but let’s break this down. snape is the same age as lily and james and they died at twenty-one and ten years later harry comes to hogwarts. that makes snape thirty-one at the start of the first book. I love alan rickman, but he was in his late fifties when he did the movies
  • same with lupin and sirius: david thewlis and gary oldman were in their late forties and it showed
  • if sirius went to azkaban when he was twenty-one and got out when he was thirty-four, then he spent more than a third of his life in there
  • I think showing them in their thirties makes what they’ve gone through so much more poignant. it really gives the full picture of how young they were to be fighting voldemort and taking on that amount of responsibility
  • this is making me want the bbc or hbo to make a tv series and get everything right that the movies got wrong

  • Not explaining how the Weasley twins got the money to start their joke shop
  • Not showing Neville’s parents in St. Mungos.
  • Not showing Harry and Ginny’s real first kiss.
  • While I’m at it, also not showing the real first kiss between Ron and Hermione
  • Not showing the fight Tonks had to get Lupin to accept her love
  • And the fact that it was Bill Weasley and Fleur Delacour who basically got them together.
  • Deciding to show a completely different Final Battle fight scene for who knows what reason. (Because let’s face it. The Final Battle at the end of the novel was the best fight scene than any of the HP movie fights.)
  • Not showing Harry FIXING HIS FREAKING WAND WITH THE ELDER WAND.
  • Deciding to have Harry break the elder wand instead of returning it to Dumbledore’s grave.
and finally
  • HARRYDIDJAPUTYOURNAMEINTHEGOBLETAFIRE??????¿¿??¿??
