Cosima Romano

Born and raised in the countryside outside of Rome to loving parents, Cosima’s life proved to be anything other than ordinary - of course, why would it be ordinary if you came from a line of werewolves. This was no problem for her, she was very interested in her heritage, throwing herself into learning all she could of her families history and where they came from. She quickly became obsessed with other studies of cryptozoology and the supernatural, making it a prime focus of her studies even as she went on to teach a course at one of the local universities in Rome.

She had begun keeping track of her turnings and keeping evidence of what it was like to live as a werewolf, things that she would display as a part of her lectures. Her students assumed she was the worlds greatest storyteller given her excitement and knowledge of her topic - of course this left her with a large smug grin as she knew the real secret.

It was during her time at the University that the Talamasca had caught wind of someone in Rome with far better knowledge of Roman wolves. Sending someone out to shadow her lectures, their interest in her grew and soon she was recruited to London. Cosima works full time for the Order in London, throwing herself into the studies of Werewolves and other beings within the Cryptozoology department. She uses her own knowledge and information while using the resources that the Order makes available to her to seek out others of her kind.

[text: Cosima] London Motherhouse.  About to flee to Rome.

[text: Cosima] Seems like a great time to get the hell out of Dodge.

[text: Miller] To my Mother City? I was thinking of returning to her as well. I have been hearing stories of nonsense happening there as well.

[text: Miller] I have contacts all through Rome of my kind who have reported feeling an impending threat there.

[text: Cosima] The S.G. didn’t send you to Miami?

[text: Cosima] Pretty sure there are threats everywhere.  Feeling less than secure no matter what roof I’m under.

[text: Miller] SG tried, believe me. But I am not leaving Europe. Rome needs me…they need me in Rome. I will do more use there.

[text: Miller] You are welcome to join me. Are your bags packed? I have a few leads to follow there. Some more wolves that could have some information.

A written letter appears upon the vampires doorstep. "This may seem a little unorthodox but I was wondering if you'd be willing to meet with me. I've been researching the Coven quite a bit and you seem like the least likely to try and kill me. - Agent Cosima, Talamasca."

About to leave for the evening, hunger driving her from her home, Rose is stopped by a letter by her door. She rarely dealt with communication by letter, but as she read it over she realized that this Cosima didn’t want to text her without first having her number, without it seeming like the Talamasca had her information, though she was sure that they did.

Calling out into the night air, as she had the feeling she was being watched, “I’ll meet with you, as long you don’t think I can’t kill you, just that I won’t.”

The one word that would have alerted other was hushed, and with good reason. Though Rose didn’t appreciate being called ‘dear’ by someone she’d just met, she held her tongue. Instead she pretended to sip her coffee, glad it was a lidded cup so no one could see how she wasn’t actually drinking.  “Two years. And a bit. I was turned August of 2013. Certain things are easier to adapt to than others. The power, the freedom, its seductive. Easy to forget it comes with a price. One you saw tonight. Though I’ve rationalized it out by taking those who should be dead. At least by my standards. Playing Gods. That’s what we do. And maybe we should be able to, after all, we’re both superior to the average person, perhaps not in morals or personality, but in powers and abilities.”

Italian accent thick as she spoke, slight smirk as she nodded in agreement. “I suppose that is true. I think there are many that would argue that supernatural beings are similar to gods, would you not agree? I think it is very far fetched sounding but I do see what you mean. Playing God.” She seemed to be rambling now, taking a sip from her drink.

“Forgive me, I fear that I am starting to not make sense. You must think it strange to be approached by the Talamasca.”

[[ Hello! Just a note that this blog is apart of the Talamasca Tribulations event and we love to plot with anyone involved. Cosima is an active Talamascan agent and werewolf. If you’d like to plot with her come to our ask box.

Homo lycanus

werewolf, loup garou, lycanthrope, skinwalker… we answer to many  but we are one

A werewolf in folklore and mythology is a person who shapeshifts into a wolf, either purposely, by using magic, or after being placed under a curse. A werewolf allegedly can be killed by complete destruction of heart or brain; silver isn’t necessary. In Norse mythology, the legends of Ulfhednar (an Old Norse term for a warrior with attributes parallel to those of a berserker, but with a lupine aspect rather than ursine) mentioned in Haraldskvaeoi and the Volsunga saga may be a source of the werewolf myths. These were vicious fighters analogous to the better known berserker, dressed in wolf hides and said to channel the spirits of these animals, enhancing their own power and ferocity in battle; they were immune to pain and killed viciously in battle, like a wild animal. In Latvian mythology, the Vilkacis was a person changed into a wolf-like monster, though the Vilkacis was occasionally beneficial. A closely related set of myths are the skin-walkers. These myths probably have a common base in Proto-Indo-European society, where the class of young, unwed warriors were apparently associated with wolves. Shape-shifters similar to werewolves are common in myths from all over the world, though most of them involve animal forms other than wolves. [x
