HELLO NICE PEOPLE COME TO MY FEIS
It’s that time of year again: to go to Texas. No, I’m not talking about the Southern Region Oireachtas (I’m sure that’s a nice event). I’m talking about FEILE HOUSTON 2015. It’s our thirty sixth year, so we must be doing something right I guess.
This year Feile Houston is on HALLO-FLIPPIN-WEEN and that means we have the most epic party planned in the history of Feiles Houston. One judge has actually asked if she can come to the feis in costume. We have a Saturday night ceili which includes a costume contest and a blind man treble reel to the Ghostbusters theme (WITH GHOSTBUSTERS TROPHIES YOU’RE LYING TO YOURSELF IF YOU DON’T WANT ONE). Especially for the wee ones, we’re doing trick or treating stations within the hotel before the ceili so nobody has to miss out on disappointing their dentist. And maybe the not so wee ones can trick-or-treat, too. I won’t judge you.
BUT WHAT ABOUT THE ACTUAL FEIS? you may ask. Well, here’s the skinny. 6 stages. 6 fantastic judges. 2 more-than-competent musicians. Sashes for top 4 in Prelim and Opens. Non-trad set special for Prizewinner and Prelim dancers. Sunday grade exams with Anna O’Sullivan. A t-shirt designed by irishdance-comeback-kid for only $15 United States dollars. Cool vendors. Cool hotel. Cool PEOPLE MAYBE?!?!
