Oh Dear, Doe Deere!

I wish someone would do a sordid history of KVD. People keep referencing the major key points but there are also little details that would be innocuous on there own but in the context of her really fill out the picture. She's trying to dog whistle to other anti-Semites while maintaining just enough plausible deniability so people can feel comfortable buying from her. Also, someone tell Shrinkle to get off her "drama free" high horse while still wearing KVD and having Monami Frost on her youtube.

That's actually not a bad idea. I agree that looking at the bigger picture would clarify and contextualise a lot of why so many people find KVD problematic. However, I disagree with saying Shrinkle should get off her high horse. She's always made the effort to stay away from drama, even when it was directed at her (the whole LC versus Sugarpill thing) and she's within her rights to chose to support/endorse who she wants, just like everyone else. I have said many times the choice to support/boycott a person or brand lies solely with the individual and I can't judge other people for choices I wouldn't personally make. - Nicola

Because I can...

I’ve got nothing but time right now, so I’ve restarted the long discarded projected of updating the Sordid History. So far, Part One is done and I’ll be expanding on that as and when I can since I know there were still more antics I’ve left out because I didn’t have the right dates/evidence for it (the fabled duct tape dress for one). If you have any evidence or info stashed away in your hard drive you think might be useful, drop me a line!

Why am I doing this again? Why am I still discussing stuff that happened over 10+ years ago? Simply, because there’s an argument to be made that even though I wanted to believe she had changed, there is a long, verifiable history of Doe acting poorly. Despite my hope she had grown up, her behaviour lately has led me to the conclusion she will continue to act superior und untouchable. It’s a shame really. Accountability matters. That’s why I’m doing this again.

Tbh I kinda thought being CEO of LC mighta taught Doe a couple of things on like, self awareness. But this uncancelled post. How wrong I was.

Yeah, we had a great sort of ‘fare thee well’ chat last year and she seemed in a very good head space. I was actually pleased for her, but I’m sad that she can’t seem to help being unnecessarily nasty towards people.

Admin note

Well, I’m back.

Took less than a year. Everything is still over on The Complete History of Oh Dear Doe Deere and to be honest, I’ve had real life get in the way of completing the mammoth task of actually making it a good looking, easy to navigate place to research; but all the info *is* still there. However, since most people still know this resource through this particular website, I thought I’d make sure my female presenting nips were covered and say hi.

Jesus, this is a mess, huh? From the simmering outrage of the dispensary story to the side-eyeing of ‘un-canceled’ post, I couldn’t exactly stay away, could I? Ask and submissions are open again, and I’m fairly active on twitter (@mamasilverside) if you want to chat.

So, what now? I’ll be around as long as it’s a topic people want to discuss, I guess. Better put the tumblr app back on my phone!

So, it’s done.

I’ve removed all posts here, finally.

It’s taken faaar longer than I meant it to, and I’m still not quite done with the next step in this process. For those of you who missed it, I decided to remove Oh Dear Doe Deere and move it on a new platform as a (hopefully) finished project. I wanted to let the story rest in a place with better context than it gets here, where sometimes old (old old) post start doing the rounds again and people don’t always realise there’s usually a. more to the story and b. it’s from a long time ago. On the new platform, I hope to provide that.

Thing is, I had loads of plans to get it finished before I deleted everything here. However, I’ve just not made the effort to continue on with the project (reformatting the posts, linking stories together effectively etc). So this morning I decided to just get this side of it done, and do the other side in time, while still giving everyone access to it. All this to say that it’s still a bit of a mess but I’m hoping that will put a bee in my bonnet to actually keep working on it instead of avoiding it.

So, if you fancy reading up, reminiscing or researching the whole Sordid History, check out The Complete History of Oh Dear Doe Deere (work in progress).

It’s been a pleasure guys, see you on the flip.
