I know this post is meant well but I see lots of reblogs on this with Sudan and #keepeyesonsudan and I need everybody to realize this is SOUTH SUDAN.

South Sudan as a country seceded with a vote of almost 99% of its people because of tribalism, religious fundamentalism, racism, and colorism in Sudan.

The factors that led to the subjugation of South Sudanese people are the same ones that have led to this current war, but they are NOT the same situation.

It is inaccurate and cruel to shade South Sudanese people's self-determination and will to live outside of North Sudan's oppressive hierarchy, which has enslaved many people and murdered countless more, under the same umbrella of the cruelty currently being faced by people in places such as Gezira state.

South Sudan is also facing a terrible hunger crisis, one that's been recurring for several years and deserves support. South Sudanese people deserve to thrive on their own terms. It is vital seeing as many people from Sudan have fled to South Sudan during this war, putting even more pressure on their system and their people as they try to accommodate.

Please continue to support South Sudan, #KeepEyesOnSudan and also #KeepEyesOnDarfur (whose circumstances, along with the Nuba Mountains are strikingly similar to South Sudan), but do so with the correct historical information.

Multiple genocides are happening in Sudan at the moment but the ones South Sudanese people have endured are older than all, it needs to be highlighted and mentioned even under these circumstances otherwise they will continue as they have since the secession.
