Jesse isn’t surprised at all to find Rachel standing at his apartment door late one night, a suitcase in both hands. She gives a one-shouldered shrug, insisting that she’ll only be there a few weeks while she hunts for an apartment of her own, although Jesse hopes for a more permanent arrangement. Needless to say, that never happens, and it isn’t long before the rest of her items come out of storage, including a certain stuffed animal.

When Jesse and Rachel finally start dating, he spends months making an effort to atone for his mistakes. One night, Rachel returns to the apartment to find him in a full tuxedo, various Christmas lights on the walls, and a familiar tune playing on the stereo. “I wanted to give you the Prom you deserved.”
