stop feeling hopeless, start getting ready

If you are in a red state, your state either has an abortion ban in place or is rated by the Guttmacher Institute as likely to enact a ban. Your focus should be on protecting yourself and others who need abortions.

  • stop using electronic period tracking apps or software
  • educate yourself and others about pregnancy prevention and join groups that are making preventative birth control more accessible
  • learn the nearest and most accessible routes to states where you and your loved ones can access abortion
  • contribute to mutual aid funds to help transport people over state lines if they are in need of abortion
  • consider joining The Satanic Temple so you can claim protections under the Religious Abortion Ritual if you are prosecuted for obtaining an abortion
  • keep a stock of by-mail abortion pills for yourself and/or others who may need them (you may need to travel out of state to obtain them)
  • form community provider networks and see if you or someone you know can be trained to use manual vacuum aspiration kits or a Del-Em
  • all of the above should be done in complete secrecy using verbal communication, end-to-end encrypted apps such as Signal, or a VPN

If you are in a yellow state, you currently have constitutional abortion protections but they are in jeopardy. Get active in local political groups NOW to fight back against constitutional amendments to ban abortion. Your focus should be purely on political action.

If you are in Michigan, you currently have a ban in place which is being challenged, and your governor is working to add abortion protections into the Michigan state constitution. Your focus should be on supporting the work that is currently under way.

If you are in a green state, your state has constitutional protections for abortion that are unlikely to be challenged. Your focus should be on helping others to enter your state for abortion care.

  • connect with abortion access groups such as Aid Access, Abortion on Demand, the National Network of Abortion Funds, or Just The Pill
  • volunteer to help people enter your state for abortion care, either with transportation help or letting someone crash on your couch
  • if you live in a green state with no current or predicted primary routes from other states for abortion access, you can focus your efforts on supporting political action in other areas

If you are in a purple state, your state currently has no constitutional protections for abortion but is unlikely to implement a ban. You have two focuses: pushing for constitutional protections AND helping others to enter your state for abortion care (see green state list).

Transcript:

With covid on the rise and the vaccine readily available, more and more businesses are requiring their employees be vaccinated, and to prove that, they need a vaccination card.

Now, this is a problem for people who don’t want to be vaccinated, and there’s some people out there who are turning this into a business opportunity.

Meet “5starjazzii.” She has over 300,000 followers on Instagram and quite a few hustles. You’ll notice in her description “founder of antivaxmomma2.”

Yeah, that’s because “antivaxmomma,” her original account, got deleted, and I suspect it’s because she posted stuff like this, advertising that she’s selling fake covid 19 vaccine cards for 200 bucks a pop, but they’ll have real lot numbers on them. Now she’s been continuing this from her new account and even from her main account. She posted this the other day, explaining that she has a backlog of messages, and also that she’s looking to expand her team, so if you have computer access at hospitals or CVS, “DM me ASAP.”

Now that led me to believe that she’s either stealing existing lot numbers and putting them on the cards or she’s getting someone to enter people into the system that haven’t been vaccinated to generate their own lot numbers. But I didn’t want to make assumptions so I decided to message her and ask.

I told her I worked at a Walgreens. She said to text her ASAP. She asked if I had access to enter the vaccine information into the system and then asked, because I’m in Florida, how do people here verify they’re in the system, because in New York they have an app. And the person she has in New York doing this can provide the numbers that the people can check in the app. I explained that in Florida you have a site you can do that on and asked what exactly she needed. She told me she provides the person’s name, date of birth, address, the vaccination date, asked if I can backdate them, and then has me enter them into the system to generate lot numbers. So I would enter them into the system as if they had just received the vaccine, WHICH THEY HAVE NOT, but the system would believe that they have, and if someone checked those lot numbers, it would say their name. That made me curious how many people were doing this. She told me the woman in New York that’s doing it for her, she’s given 100 bucks a person, she’s doing at least 30 people a day, and that woman’s making 10,000 dollars a week. Do the math on that. On how many people are walking around with legal documents saying they’re vaccinated, and they are not. She’s also asked if I could provide her covid 19 cards.

Now you may ask, why would someone take the risk and do something like this? Well, it seems in her case that it’s at least due in part to the fact that she believes that the vaccines are sterilizing children as part of the Gay Agenda. Now, she’s not going to be doing this any longer, the FBI’s already been involved, but when I hear people say things like, “why bother getting the vaccine, people are getting covid who are fully vaccinated?” I have to wonder, are they?

Transcript ends.

Fucking kudos to him for actively involving himself and getting this information. Jesus christ, this is genuinely so upsetting.

some notes on anti-asian racism

look. other people have commented on this before, but it seems like it needs to be said again because some of y’all aren’t getting the message.

  1. asian people are a marginalized minority. what about this do people not understand. asian people are marginalized because we live in a system of white supremacy and in this system, asian people will never be white and will never have the power of white people. just because a lot of asians are relatively well off financially does not mean we are not marginalized; there are other ways to be excluded and treated as unequal besides in terms of money, and this completely ignores the millions of asian people who are poor and working class, including the women who were killed in atlanta. asian people are not basically white- we look different, so we are treated different, just like any minority. it’s that simple. if asian people were not marginalized, why else would hate crimes against asian people rise dramatically in 2020. why else would we be attacked in the streets. why else would people tell us to go back to where we came from. why else would the chinese exclusion act be passed, japanese american citizens be shipped to the midwest during world war 2, vietnamese people massacred by american soldiers in the 70s. asian people are being killed now. if we are not marginalized, why are there targets on our backs for existing
  2. black lives matter and stop asian hate are movements for social justice that have the same root cause: destroying white supremacy. black and asian communities have often been pitted against each other by white institutions seeking to take advantage of sowing discord between minority groups, but there is a rich history of black-asian solidarity during the fight for civil rights in the late 20th century. yes, anti-blackness is a real issue in asian communities, especially among older asians. and yes, asians also experience racism from black individuals- see these examples of cardi b using an anti-asian slur, this incident that happened yesterday of a black man pouring unknown liquid on an asian woman. neither is acceptable. supporting one movement does not negate your support for the other. you can do both, in fact, you should do both. realize that we all have a common enemy here, and it’s the system of white supremacy that has oppressed us. we are not free from white supremacy until it is all entirely eradicated, for everyone
  3. just because i speak in the collective sense about asian people does not mean that all asian people are the same. even though some of us may look similar, with black hair and “small” eyes, that is only a representative image of some east/southeast asian people. asia is vast and incredibly diverse, and each nation has its own culture, language, and traditions. in addition, the asian diaspora is huge. asian people live all over the world, in varying economic, social, and political situations. different asian people in different areas have very different problems, even within the same country. an asian in a small town in nebraska will have a very different experience than an asian in paris. a korean person will have a different experience in a given place from an indian person. i don’t know how many times in my life i’ve been asked, “are you chinese?” the answer is no, i’m not, and a lot of asians aren’t chinese. tied into this is the mistaken belief of some nonasians in the western world that all asians are still allegiant to the country of their heritage and speak the language of that country, which manifests in comments like “oh your english is so good!” or “are you, like, communist?” first off, it ignores the very real possibility that an asian person could be born outside asian countries, and second, being from a certain country by no means determines whether you’re loyal to it and agree with its policies. i just saw this with an anon claiming all chinese people support the government’s reeducation camps for uyghur muslims. this is absolutely preposterous.
  4. finally, a word on allyship. i have zero faith in nonasian people- and by that i mean white people- to continue talking about this and spreading awareness about anti-asian racism. part of it is this model minority myth, that asians are basically as well off as white people, at least financially and academically, so they can figure things out by themselves. no. absolutely not. we cannot get out of the hole white supremacy has put us into without white people making a genuine, legitimate effort to confront their own biases. your white tears, your prayers and thoughts, they mean nothing when the blood of our families and friends runs in the streets. they mean nothing if you haven’t bothered to learn a single thing about your own prejudices. i hope to god that i am wrong about this. i hope for my family, my friends, and myself that y’all will continue to be loud about this, because we are tired of screaming for help in a crowd where we are invisible and no one cares. but i’m a skeptic for a reason, and it took a massacre for people to notice what was happening. i don’t know if i’ll ever be proven wrong.

Last day of Black History Month and I’m celebrating and honoring the amazing, very talented, the late Chadwick Bozeman. He was an American actor and playwright. After studying directing at Howard University, he became prominent in theater, winning a Drama League Directing Fellowship and an acting AUDELCO, and being nominated for a Jeff Award as a playwright for Deep Azure. Transitioning to the screen, he landed his first major role as a series regular on Persons Unknown in 2010, and his breakthrough performance came in 2013 as baseball player Jackie Robinson in the biographical film 42. He continued to portray historical figures, starring in Get on Up (2014) as singer James Brown and Marshall (2017) as Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall. Boseman achieved international fame for playing superhero Black Panther in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) from 2016 to 2019. He appeared in four MCU films, including an eponymous 2018 film that earned him an NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Actor in a Motion Picture and a Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture. As the first black actor to headline an MCU film, he was also named in the 2018 Time 100. In 2016, Boseman was diagnosed with colon cancer. Boseman kept his condition private, continuing to act until his death from complications related to the illness in August 2020. He extensively supported cancer charities publicly and privately, as well as giving to organizations that support disadvantaged children. His final film, Ma Rainey's Black Bottom, was released posthumously in 2020 to critical acclaim. At the 27th Screen Actors Guild Awards Boseman received four nominations, for his work in Ma Rainey as well as Da 5 Bloods, breaking the record for most nominations for an actor in a single night. RIP 🤴. #WakandaForever

this is the most useful information I have ever received from tubr and it seems to be confirmed by several other places upon searching

so this actually should be spread like wildfire like actually

Me reading this realizing tunglr dawt kom gave me more information about my medication than MYDOCTORRRRRSSSSSS MYYYYYYYY FUCKENNNNN DOCTORSSSSS PLURAL MULTIPLE DOCTORSSSSSSSS

Reblogging to spread this ridiculously important info

Generally speaking, your doctors actually may not know these things. This is the kind of stuff to ask your pharmacist about.

Watch out for citrus for ALL medications, fyi. I love grapefruit but it’s particularly bad if you’re taking any kind of meds.

READ THE PAMPHLETS folks. They hand you the little sheets with your meds, read them. If that’s a challenge, say you have a question for the pharmacist when you pick up your meds and ask about things not to eat/drink/take together. They will be happy to help you.

I wanted to post this because I thought it was sweet, but I think it’s also a good reminder to allies and also fellow lgbt members that people seeing you is important and for lgbt+ people when you are ready to come out, if you ever are (if you aren’t that’s also okay, and you should only come out if you are ready), it can make a world of difference to other people and you are doing something good!

Also I think it’s important to remember, amongst the discourse and the horrible things that happen in the world, we have allies and we have each other ✨

Slide 1: White text on black background. White star of David in the corner. In all caps: “Why is it so Scary to be a Jew Right Now”

Slide 2: White background with a large Venn diagram. Top text reads: “There is hate coming from all sides right now and no one is even trying to hide it”

Below this text is a four circle Venn diagram.

Top Circle: “Nation of Islam: Louis Farrakhan and his followers who call us “satanic termites””
Left Circle: “Far Left: Anti-Zionists believe we’re all racist imperialists and blame us for the Israeli government”
Right Circle: “Far Right: White supremacists are “racist” against us (even though Judaism is not a race)”
Bottom Circle: ““Mainstream Antisemitism: your everyday bigot Holocaust deniers. “Jews control the world”“

The middle overlap between all four circles reads: “have openly said they want me dead” and the other overlaps repeat this same message but broken up to a couple of words per overlap.

Slide 3: White background with a bar graph. Top text reads: “We are grossly outnumbered" Text continues down the right side: “The combined IG followings of 5 of the most vocal celebrities spreading dangerous antisemitism this month outnumber the total US Jewish population by OVER 7 to 1. (Stephen Jackson, Desean Jackson, Ice Cube, Nick Cannon, Diddy). Ice Cube and Diddy alone have each spread antisemitism to more followers than there are Jews in the ENTIRE WORLD. We literally can’t do this alone.”

The bar graph to the left of the text compares the Instagram followings of the above celebrities (in red) with the world Jewish population (in grey).

Left column: “Four [sic] Vocal Celebrity Instagram Followings

Stephen Jackson 89.3K
Desean Jackson 1.4 mil
Nick Cannon 4.9 million
Ice Cube 17.8 million
Diddy 17.1 million”

(The column continues to the top of the slide, with Diddy’s follow count presumably running over the top)

Right column: “Entire World Jewish Population

Total US Jews 5.7 million
Jews of the Rest of the World 9 million
Total: 14.7 million”

(This column reaches less than half of the visible left column)

Slide 4: large red number and smaller white text on the red background.

“2107 hate crimes against Jews reported by the ADL in 2009. The highest # of hate crimes since they started recording in 1979.”

Slide 5: White background with two pie charts. Top Text reads: “Jews make up just 2% of the U.S. population...” Bottom text reads: “...But were victims of 57.8% of all religion-based hate crimes in 2018. (The next highest is anti-Islam at 14.5%)”

The pie charts are black with copper slices

Top chart: compares total US population with Jewish population using statistic above. “Jews” is a tiny tiny sliver of the larger “Rest of US Population”
Bottom chart: compares hate crime percentages from above. “Hate Crimes Against Jews” takes up more than half of the chart compared to “All Other Religion Based Hate Crimes”

Slide 6: Title is white text black background, rest is white background. Title reads: “If it’s such a big deal why aren’t more people talking about it?”

1. “They’re scared.

For non-Jews, vocalizing support of Jewish people feels vulnerable and unsafe. What will people think of me? Will it look like I’m taking away from another movement? Will it change how people perceive me politically? Will people think I don’t care about Palestinians?
For Jews, standing up for ourselves is vulnerable and unsafe. Will people believe me? Will my coworkers judge me? Will people equate me with the Israeli government? Will I lose friends, respect? Will people see me differently? Will people think I’m taking away from another movement? Will people think I’m being dramatic?

2. They don’t want to.

A lot of non-Jews don’t want to talk about it because it doesn’t effect them. Others don’t want to talk about it because they believe what they’re hearing is “the truth”. And some, frankly, just don’t care.
For Jews, talking about it can feel like a lost cause -- “They’ve hated us for thousands of years and are going to hate us anyways so why bother”. For others, it is simply too painful.”

Slide 7: Black background. Large white text reads “Honestly, I don’t want to talk about it either. But if I don’t call out antisemitism, who will? Sadly I am afraid to know the answer to that question. And that is exactly why it’s so scary to be a Jew right now.”

Slide 8: Red background. White text in quotation marks reads: “If we’re going to be outraged by injustice, let’s be outraged by injustice against anyone. -Kareem Abdul-Jabbar”

Slide 9: Red background. White title text reads “ What Can You Do?”

“Non-Jews: We’re not asking for much. Call it out. Make it clear you stand against all hate. Believe us. Be open to learning, growing, and questioning what you’ve been taught.
Jews: Speak up. While you’re standing up for everyone else, don’t forget to stand up for yourself. Very few others are.”

His name is Jacob Blake. He was unarmed, trying to break up a fight. He was tasered and shot 7 times while trying to get into a car. His kids were watching.

This happened on 8/23. Havent found too many posts on tumblr about it yet. Police tear gassed protestors who gathered outside the police station. I'll keep an eye out for a gofundme/petition.

1. Call local officials to demand police accountability (I tried to look for emails, but I don’t know how effective they are as of yet. Their websites are so slow, probably from others doing the same.)

Kenosha City Attorney: 262-653-4170

Kenosha Mayor and City Administration: 262-653-4000; mayor@kenosha.org

Wisconsin Department of Justice: (608) 266-1221

Kenosha Police Non Emergency Line: 262-656-1234

2. Donate to help bail out protesters

Milwaukee Freedom Fund / Directory of Community Bail Funds if you need a list of bail funds across US

3. Take to the streets yourself

In the article, there are tips and info you must read (like advice from Milwaukee Freedom Fund, general resources, requesting bail help from Milwaukee Freedom Fund, if you recieve a curfew ticket reach out to ACLU—protest@aclu-wi.org).

4. Support BLM

In this section, the author reccommends community organizations. Check them out.

5. Don’t share disturbing footage

Share resources. The author writes, “While footage of Blake being shot by a police officer may prove valuable for prosecuting the officer involved, it is far more useful at this stage to share resources than traumatic video of the incident.”

Right now, I cannot find a gofundme campaign for Jacob Blake and his family, but if there is one that is directly connected to his family, please let me know.

Okay, I'm posting this here because this blog has a much bigger following than my main. This is the first time I've ever begged for reblogs instead of likes.

The morning of August 10th a massive storm called a derecho plowed through the midwest, devastating Southern Wisconsin, Northern Illinois, and the entire state of Iowa, which is where I live. Iowa was hit the worst. A derecho is basically the equivalent of a hurricane. Our highest recorded wind speed was 112mph.

1/3 of the state lost power, and almost 3 days later, roughly 400,000 people still don't have power. We have approximately 23 million acres of farmland, and approximately 10 million were destroyed by the storm. That's not good at all. Our crops are one of the state's main sources of economic development, and we lost so much.

The light green area inside the circle is all of our damaged crops. We lost a lot of silos and grain bins as well

Outside of our local news stations, there's barely any national media coverage on this. Ive only seen a couple, and the only ones I have seen weren't even that in that depth.

The above screenshot was from today(Aug. 12th, 2020) at 9pm CST. 2 days had passed before either of them wrote anything about it.

We have some cities that are either partly out of power or entirely out of power. One of the worst hit cities was even still recovering somewhat from a F4 tornado that went through it 2 years ago.

There's people stranded in their homes without food, power, gas and/or cell service. Please spread the word and let people know that we need help!

THIS, All of this.

Iowa is a disaster zone. I’m missing parts of my roof, probably need a new garage, new windows, new siding. My patio door was literally blown off its hinges.

My small town has no power, because the electrical poles were snapped in half like toothpicks. My parents live in Cedar Rapids, and they are completely cut off from the modern world at this point. They can’t make any phone calls because the cell towers were destroyed.

We are running out of fuel. There are still hundreds of thousands of us without power. Everyone has rancid food sitting in their freezers. People on wells literally have no access to running water. Generators and tarps are almost impossible to find. Banks are closed, and businesses aren’t taking debit/credit cards. The only way for most of us to charge our phones is to sit in our vehicles with the engine running.

We NEED aid.

There's a media blackout on this.

This is the breadbasket of the United States, this could potentially lead to a winter famine.

This is still going on. It’s 8/15 and about 150,000 households are still without power, including almost 60% of Linn County which has the 2nd biggest city in the state. See those big streaks on the satellite image? Two of them pass directly through major cities.

I see a lot of people asking what you can do in the notes. Ask your senators to pressure the federal government for better disaster relief, they’ve done nothing so far. Call our governor Kim Reynolds and tell her how badly she’s botched relief efforts. I don’t know if there’s anywhere you can donate to really, maybe people could put links in the notes?

It’s been super fun here, lemme tell ya. I never lost power, but I got very lucky. A solid quarter of my county doesn’t have power, and we’ve had a bunch of deaths in people who lost air conditioning and were in delicate health. (because it’s also been hot as balls this whole time!!)

Out by Cedar Rapids, at least 75% of the county still doesn’t have power. They’ve pulled in electrical line workers from as far as New York, Texas, and California, and we used up (checks notes) all of the spare electric poles in Texas to replace fallen or damaged ones. They’re scrambling to ship in more from California and Canada now, as well as wire and transformers.

Oh and yeah, a third of the crop people depend on is destroyed.

People have lost fridges and freezers full of food, and it was just after most folks stocked up because their EBT cards got refilled for the month. Some renters and home insurance is replacing it, but that’s only if folks have it.

It ain’t pretty.
