Happy New Year! I am seriously humbled by the support friends, family, and kind strangers have shown for my Kickstarter project, "A House Without a Roof." I'm proud to say I've surpassed my goal thanks to everyone's enormous support. There is still one week left in my campaign! So feel free to pass around and share. Thank you again everybody!!! It's going to be a good year.  Here's the link for the campaign.

Hello World! I just launched a Kickstarter to help fund a trip back to Israel and the West Bank in January (next month), to finish photographing and collecting materials for the project I began three years ago. The project has evolved into a book that negotiates the contested and deeply complex historical narratives of Israel and Palestine, Germany and the United States, and weaves together a story of identity and memory. I will publish it in 2015. Your support is greatly appreciated! Share away. Happy holidays!!! https://www.kickstarter.com/…/190534…/a-house-without-a-roof

Studio Visit - September 2014

“My work consists of constructing a model, or a set in front of a still camera and create images. Mainly these models depict architectural structures, elements of interior design, often fragmented and detached. Lately I’ve been experimenting in showing the models as they are, on forms of tables where they interact with each other. The photograph is now placed on the model as a surface and the table is like a microcosmos where different things can occur: an abandoned facade of a synagogue is reconstructed on ruins; an old closet space is the other side of a waterfall; behind the walls is a falling woman.”

Studio Visit - September 2014

"My work is the evidence of an organic rhythm, precision and play – an intuitive and contingent moving and culling of an image into this reality through a physical process of searching. This approach invests in the unknown, or bewilderment as a vulnerable, yet powerful and freeing, path to making work. Drawing is vital, with an emphasis on the criticality of touch and the physical transmitting of information into a surface. Gardens, sisterhood, headstrong blues, diagrams, empathetic relationships, disembodied experiences, and repressed affectivity are relevant to my current thinking. Morphing between presence and absence, this way of reliving obscurities and articulating invisible and unnamable alliances, reflects the way worlds osmotically modify each other, the re-framing, writing over and re-imagining that can empower multiple visions."

Studio Visit - September 2014

"My work is firmly rooted in examining how (analog/digital) bodies operate as icons, symbols, and indexical tools, and how bodies function as surfaces that record/transmit i/Identities. Whether through the use of my body, or the incorporation of other bodies, I aim to construct spaces that allow for transcendentality/criticality while simultaneously deconstructing the performativity of said spaces.

tl;dr: reflection, repetition, projection, transparency.”

Check it.

Studio Visit - September 2014

“I am examining life and my experience of time, space, and matter. My work is influenced by the basic processes and mechanisms that govern us—growth, decay, consumption—searching for the punctum within our everyday experiences. Recently, I have introduced elements of the natural and active, meditations on the state of our environment. What are the implications of humanity if we are not self-sustaining? What does it mean if we can acknowledge it, yet cannot stop it?”

Studio Visit - August 2014

"My work deals with exhausted images, burnt-out iconography, emblems that have lost their function, and banners for the displaced. As of late I have been painting using found fabrics and using mono printing techniques to create images that reflect a loss or removal, an absence while being emphatic in their material presence. I want to reassert painting as a medium of touch, being essentially about literal physical contact registered by the mark, and to interrogate  what implications a tactile painting language has today, right now."

Hello World! I'm in the MFA Studio Art program at Hunter College and I started a TUMBLR to spotlight studio visits I do with friends and other students in the program. I shoot all the pictures and the artists submit short statements about their work and links to things they're watching/thinking about/reading/listening to. It's pretty cool. Check it out. New work every week..!
