In Super Mario Bros. Wonder, every object supports being resized by the game's engine. Most of them never use this functionality, but it is available and even correctly alters the objects' hitboxes when used (note Mario correctly bouncing off the giant Buzzy Beetle's shell).

However, resizing an object still retains all of its regular interactions, which may become unexpected depending on its size. Since Mario can pick up a regular Buzzy Beetle's shell, he can also pick up the giant Buzzy Beetle's shell without problems, as shown in the footage.
