The link in the original post unfortunately leads to a deleted account, so I googled the artist Yosuke Amemiya. And you guys. Those apples are WOOD. That isn’t digital art or some malleable medium like clay or putty. Wood. I’m almost angry at how good they look. Absolute witchcraft.

I think one of the most heartbreaking things I’ve felt in my life was when I pictured what it must have looked like when the person I thought I would spend my life with charged at me from across the living room. How I froze and dropped to the ground. Terrified. And how, when I kicked them in defense for trying to grab me from the ground, they slapped me across the face.

To gain perspective of the severity of that event, I pictured it as if I was watching us from a third party- I take in the context, the conflict, and the moment I blinked away the image of you standing in front of me while I was on my knees and how quickly your hand reached across and swung.

My head hurt that next morning.

My heart hurt when I saw me.
