reminders for new cosplayers!

  • there is nothing wrong with buying parts of your costume, or even buying the whole thing!
  • we all start somewhere–even the best cosplayers around! so if your costume isn’t flawless don’t fret!
  • having fun is the most important part of cosplaying and don’t let ANYONE tell you otherwise!
  • just because you don’t think you look enough like a character doesn’t mean you shouldn’t cosplay them anyway!
  • you don’t have to buy brand-name wigs if you can’t afford ‘em–it’s pretty easy to find wigs of pretty decent quality for a fraction of the price on ebay and amazon if you know where to look!
  • if ANYONE tries to shit on your good time, fuck ‘em. they’re just being dicks and you don’t deserve that!
  • as hard as it may be (and believe me, it can be HARD!), try not to compare your costumes to those worn by people with more experience. it’s all a matter of practice and i’m sure you’re doing great! 
  • don’t be discouraged if things don’t come out the way you want the first time–practice makes perfect!
  • did i mention having fun? because seriously, cosplay should be about having fun and loving your favorite characters enough to dress up as them, so don’t let anything stop you from having a great time!
  • i am so proud of all of you and i know you’ll just keep getting better and better! <3

It’s awesome to have more active members within PLOM! Here’s a few more shots of Nora. I (Lemonaid) absolutely adore working with this girl. She was literally willing to walk on mossy logs and stand in trees in crazy heels. Can she balance on log over a creek? Yep. Hike down a dear-trail? Yep. Leap over a stream in wicked heels and crouch in ivy while I lept up and a hill side trying to get the shot? You bet. Fantastic person and an awesome cosplayer. Give her a follow if you get a chance!

For the 30 cosplay questions thing: 1,11,15,20

Seeing as we’re a pretty large group Lemonaid, Tea-time and Party-Chicken will answer these! 

1) Our first cosplays.

Tea-time was Dorothy from wizard of Oz, Party-Chicken was Tenten from Naruto (Unless you count sailor moon for halloween when she was like four), and Lemonaid was Austria from Hetalia (She thinks. It was a long time ago). Ah, the good old days. 

11) Do we pick certain characteristics when we cosplay? 

Tea-time) Idk, I really like doing super cutesy stuff, big eyes, lots of fake eyelashes typically!

Party-Chicken)  I don’t think I really have one? I do a lot of gravity falls and rwby but that is just because I like them at the moment. None really have common features or personalities that I can think of? 

Lemonaid) ….I have a weakness for long haired gentlemen. A strong weakness.       

15) Do we have future plans?

Tea-time) BB-8, Military Rose Quartz, Asami Sato, Levy Mcgarden. And I’ll attend Sakura-con, AE. 

Party-Chicken)  I’ve been to Tsukino con, northwest fanfest, anime revolution, winterfest, and sakura con. Upcoming events: Tsukino con, sakura con (For sure) maybe another vancouver con? We’ll see.

Lemonaid) We’ll be hitting up Tsukino-con in February, Sakura-con in March and some summer cons which we haven’t chosen yet. In the future I’d love to hit some conventions over in Europe and back in England. We’ll have to see how the cookie crumbles. 

20) Have you worn cosplay in a regular situation? (eg. at school, to work)

Tea-time) I’ve only worn cosplay out clubbing and that was as Alice in Wonderland.

Party-Chicken) NOPE.

Lemonaid) We used to have costume days way back in high school so I wore pieces of costumes to those I think. Aside from that I don’t believe so!
