Who is a night owl:
jean likes to think that he’s a night owl. he insists that he’s most alert at night and does his best work at night and prefers to stay up later to prove so, but he’s actually very productive in the mornings. armin is a bit of an insomniac, as his mind just won’t quite turn off even after he’s been lying there for an hour.
Who is a morning person:
if jean would go to bed at a reasonable hour, he could potentially be a morning person. armin has a little bit of trouble getting up and at'em in the mornings, but he’s a cheerful sort of groggy.
Are they cuddlers:
they ‘cuddle’ when they can. little things like jean cupping armin’s face while he finally falls asleep or armin holding jean’s hand. in modern verse, yes. they like to snuggle up together on the couch every tuesday night for take out and movies.
Who is the big spoon and who is the little spoon:
they don’t get the opportunity to sleep like this often. in modern verse, it kind of switches? jean will initiate it, but sometimes armin will end up being the big spoon by the middle of the night and they’ll wake up that way. it depends on who’s the last one to actually fall asleep, who’s having a restless sleep, etc etc.
What is their favourite sleeping position:
they sleep side by side and facing each other. sometimes they’ll reach across their cots/mats and hold hands. in modern verse, jean likes to hold armin close against him and press his face into the back of armin’s neck, just between his shoulders. armin will fold his arms over jean’s or hold one of his hands.
Who steals all the blankets:
armin doesn’t so much as 'steal’ the blankets. jean more offers them to him, and he takes them after a bit of whispering back and forth and jean scoffing that he doesn’t need them anyway, and armin winds up with the blankets. …in modern verse, jean has a habit of coccooning himself in his sleep. armin finds this humorous in the summer and mildly annoying in the winter.
What they wear to bed:
both wear a simple, comfortable shirt and pants to bed. something they could easily jump up and change into their gear if needed. during furloughs, armin might slip into one of jean’s shirts because they actually fit him quite nicely.
Who likes seeing the other wearing their t-shirt:
in modern, jean likes to wear some of armin’s bigger hoodies and armin likes to wear some of jean’s comfy shirts. especially in the winter.
Who falls asleep mid-conversation:
jean does. sometimes armin will nudge him to wake him back up or snap him out of a doze, but most of the time he just lets him drift away. depends on what they were discussing before-hand, really.
Who wakes up in the middle of the night with nightmares:
ohoho, they both do. albeit, i’ll say jean probably does more often if not just because he actually falls asleep more often. armin lays awake a lot, kept up by his thoughts rather than by nightmares. when jean wakes up after a nightmare, he’ll talk to him until he collects himself. sometimes he’ll reach across and touch his forearm. again, it really depends on the situation.
Who accidentally punched the other in their sleep:
they usually sleep with enough distance between their cots/mats that this doesn’t really happen. in modern verse, armin probably smacks jean every now and again when he starts to stretch and is too groggy to realize where jean’s head is in comparison to his arms.
Who can’t keep their hands to themself:
i think jean is more physical as far as nudging/poking/lovingly shoving armin to get his attention or to express himself ( like laughing and giving armin a playful shove, or being the one to reach out and take armin’s shoulder/hand to comfort him ). so it’d be jean. just for expressive and needy reasons.
