Emma’s like “We’re going to try and have dinner with my family tonight, okay?”

He just rubs his hands together “Splendid! Feasting with a table full of thieves and murderers. This will be worth attending.” 

Everyone sitting uncomfortably around the loft dinner table, and on one side you’ve got two leather clad goths with one smiling politely and the other giving them all chillingly cold smiles.

And there’s awkward silences but Snow tries small talk like

“So, Killian… how are you?”

“Well I haven’t felt the urge to murder anyone today but it’s only 6 o clock. How about you, love? Felt the bloodlust since Cora’s demise?”

And David jumps in “Hey! Don’t talk to my wife like that.”

“Now now, Dave. That short temper might just ruin that holier than thou attitude of yours. It might just be your fall from grace.” 

The cocky fucker is just calling everyone out and Regina is purposely sitting there quiet AF cos homie’s got way too much dirt on her.

“That’s it. I want you out of my house.”

“And here was me hoping to invite you out on a fishing trip. I thought we could go fillet some mermaids. You seemed rather keen on the sport in Neverland if I recall.”

Emma tries reasoning with him “killian. please.”

“Sorry, love! It seems i’m not in the mood for pleasantries tonight. Save me a slice of pie and I’ll see you back at home.” and he gives the charming’s an evil smirk before saying to her on a seductive voice “and we can do some of our own family bonding.” before giving her a soft kiss on the cheek before poofing out. 

I just want loads of Dark Hook terrorising everyone around town by calling out their history. Can I have it? Please? 

Like, poofing into Game of Thorns and scaring Moe, asking for two dozen of his finest dark red roses. And Moe wraps them up, stutters out a price and Killian’s like

“Really? And here was me thinking you’d have another daughter to barter with. Swan and I could do with a maid. Never mind. Do you take doubloons?”

Or fitting himself into the booth with Marco and Archie.

“Ah, it’s lovely to see such a solid friendship between you both. Although I do find it rather ironic that the cricket made wooden puppets out of the woodcarver’s parents. Have you carved them a little wooden house to live in? Perhaps a wooden casket. Give them a proper send off.”

And of course the two he terrorises the most are Gold and Regina. But this post would be way too fucking long if I delved into that….

I plan to make a longer post later, showing how Henry was abused, but I want to address a couple specific things that I’ve seen regal believers say recently that really bothered me.

I have seen them say that if you take away the fantasy, the situation is incredibly sympathetic toward Regina. They fail to realize that by taking away the fantasy, you are taking away part of the abuse she did to Henry. You are taking away the fact that Regina KNEW he was right about the curse, but made everyone think he was crazy, and told Henry that he was wrong. She knew, the whole time, that he was right, and the fact that she acted otherwise is wrong. That is part, a large part, of the abuse, and the fact that these people don’t seem to get that is really frustrating.

Then, there’s the way they keep bringing adoption into the discussion. It’s almost like they think we must be anti-adoptive if we say that Henry was abused by Regina. I am sick and tired of that notion too. I am adopted. I want healthy relationships between adoptive kids and their parents, and I want that to be shown on media. But, I also want people to realize that adopted kids can be abused as well. Adoption isn’t perfect all the time, and I think it’s very, very important for people to realize that. It isn’t anti-adoption to say, or to show, one adoptive relationship as abusive; it’s realistic. What’s anti-adoptive is acting like adopted children can’t be abused by their parents.

They also focus on Regina’s view, not on Henry’s. Regina is a good parent because xyz. They ignore how Henry’s feeling. They brush of Henry’s emotions in favor of hers. When, really, the things he says are troubling, and telling. Regina doesn’t value him, that’s the biggest problem. She’s always putting her needs before his. And that is what her fans are doing as well.

Actually do take away the fantasy elements, because maybe then they’ll see how bad this shit really is:

A woman decides she wants a baby because she is bored and wants someone to love her (one of the most classic reasons people are told not to get a baby). She decides she’s too good for a wait list and knows she cannot meet many of the legal requirements, so she gets someone to bypass them for her so that she can get what she wants now, meeting none of the actual requirement for adoptive parents which exist for a reason.

Given how she goes to an agency that does not insist on things such as a home visit, she intentionally found a place that would let her do that. She looked for a place that will give her a child without the rules being enforced. She has entered into the criminal area of underground adoption rings that often illegally send children into abusive homes (admittedly this is rare for US born kids, but not impossible).

She brings the boy home. He cries, like any normal child. She assumes him defective and takes him to a hospital. The hospital, as well as other in the town, assure her that this is normal baby behavior and she merely needs to cater to his needs. She seems baffled by this, presumably because she got the baby in order to “improve” her life not take care of another human being.

As the child grows, he is isolated from everyone around him due to her actions. He notices how people act oddly around her and eventually deduces that she has done horrible, criminal things and only isn’t in jail because she controls the sheriff. She controls the press. When he tries to convince others of what she’s done, she puts him into therapy with a therapist that she also controls. Everyone in town is scared of her.

(Now some of you might say that this sort of control is fantastical, so I can’t include it, but I live in the USA. A combo of money and connections will keep anyone safe from justice. And small towns sometimes are places where everyone knows about the dirty laundry but won’t do anything about it. So Storybrooke could be more real than we think)

Finally, the child is pushed to his breaking point. He manages to find his birth mother, no doubt  spending a lot of time in this endeavor to track down not only who she is but where she is now. He then steals enough money to get out of town and escapes, presumably on foot to the nearest bus stop, quite possibly evading searches along the way if he is noticed to be missing. The fact that he does not turn around tells us how desperate he is. He crosses state lines clinging to the idea that maybe, just maybe, this person will help him.

The woman he finds think he is exaggerating his abuse and takes him home. She is about to leave him back where he started when his abuser hints at just how cruel she really is, prompting this woman who did not want to be a mother to stay out of worry for the kid’s safety.

The abuser perceives this new woman as a threat. She commits murder and orchestrates kidnapping in order to try to get rid of her. She endangers children as well. Finally when she seems to lose custody, she leaves a pastry in the woman’s house. The child knows it is poisoned but cannot convince the woman of this, she thinks that’s too out-there a thing to do. Afraid she’ll die and desperate to prove how mad his abuser is, the child eats the poisoned pastry. He dies in the ER, since there is no magic TLK to save him.

That is what happens when you remove the fantasy.

please, if you are able, do what you can for the asiatic lion. donate, get involved, spread information. there are only about 300 left in the world, and they all live in Gir Forest National Park in India.

the african lion is also estimated to be extinct by 2050 due to habitat loss, sport hunting, and loss of their prey base to the bushmeat trade. these beautiful creatures could be extinct in our lifetime. the next generation may not ever have the chance to see these creatures, there will be no more cute lion vines, there will be no more documentaries, there will be no more zoos or sanctuaries containing lions. there will be no more lions.
