En el vergel paterno vivió lánguida vida durante el crudo invierno la flor descolorida. Sopló el alegre Mayo sus ráfagas de amor: siguió en triste desmayo la moribunda flor.
La flor descolorida habló y me dijo así: «Del vástago cogida quisiera ser por ti. -No atenderé tu ruego, pues voy, loco de amor, buscando sin sosiego la purpurina flor».
-«La flor que de esa suerte tú buscas, no hallarás; tras ella hasta la muerte desconsolado irás. No cogerá tu mano la purpurina flor: lo mismo que yo, hermano, enfermo estás de amor».
La flor descolorida habló, temblando, así; con mano conmovida del tallo la cogí. Calmó al instante el alma su afán devorador, y gozó en dulce calma angelical amor.
