This is for all the young kids who just graduated high school and are considering going to college (and art schools in particular)

Check this podcast out, these ladies have a lot of great insight that you might find useful before deciding!

And just a little side note from me personally on my history with art and college. I actually opted to not go. When I was a teen I desperately wanted to go to SCAD, but knew I could never afford it (and I hated the idea of being in debt)

So I decided to instead just focus on my comics and start posting up what I had already worked on while I was in Highschool (I’d draw pages while in class, AFTER I finished my work lol. They can’t tell you no since you finished your assignments =P)

But anyways, I graduated Highschool in 2009, and by then I had done Nigh Heaven & Hell Vol.1 & Vol.2 (The Old Version), and Beautiful Blood. (And had outlines for Freakshow & Technicolor London) 

I Started uploading my comics in 2010 on Smackjeeves. (By then I had Nigh Heaven & Hell Vol.3, Freakshow Vol.1 and Technicolor London Vol.1 I think)

And have consistently been uploading since 2013 (2014-current my schedule had a few hiccups cause my buffer ran out!) But i’ve been drawing comics for a long time and am NOW finally starting to get opportunities. 

In the end, I’m personally happy with my decision, but that’s because I hustled and my parents gave me the chance to solely focus on my work and it payed off in the end. And I’m also debt free cause I never attended college! 

Think about all your options, listen to this podcast, and know there are SO many ways to enter the industry. But it all starts with simply drawing your comic!
