The tavern and inn, known as the Clockwork Owl, stood as a place of respite for weary travelers and those who need a break from the day. It caters to all walks of life, so long as they come in the name of peace and friendship. Sounded schmaltzy I’m sure, but if you’d ever met the owner, you’d understand.
Of course some hang ups couldn’t be checked at the door, but the funny thing about an intrusive thought is it’s only terrible if you act on it. Especially with the bouncer watching the patrons as eagle eyed as the performance on stage, a Dracovecta bard playing a violin of oaken wood sculpted into a skull shape. At her feet was a puppy with a soft patch of white fur on it’s otherwise black furred head. The fluff was in the shape of a skull that sat almost hat like on the pooch, who howled melodically with the musician.
The bartender was working on preparing a drink, an orange cat snoozing gently on the one end of the bar counter.
“Hello there, welcome to the Clockwork Owl…I see you’re a woman of business, getting straight to the point. I’m something of an artificer myself; what job do you have needing done?”
As she entered before she made her way to the bar she tosses a small bag of coin to the bard, it was only the polite thing to do. Myleia smiled at the man behind the bar, she figured this was the man she was looking for and his response only confirmed it. As she looked around the bar, ensuring there weren’t anyone she could immediately recognize as a spy she was glad that she didn’t, though she still couldn’t be sure.
“Glad to be welcomed, it’s a nice establishment that you have here.” She spoke, a genuine tone in her voice. I’m only straight to the point when I’m on official business for the Emperor and the Army, which leads me to point out we should probably take our business someplace a bit more quiet. Don’t want any prying ears from the Atomendian Empire listening.” She spoke.
Though there was no war between the two empires at the current moment tensions were high and they had a rocky relationship at best with their neighbors beyond the Hightop Mountains to the south. The expedition that Myleia would be guarding would be heading straight into that mountain range and into what little unclaimed territory there was left.
