Hoard of references and dumb fun things. Doesn’t usually get nsfw, does occasionally get bloody. I try to tag. My art blog is over at dumbcrushedsketching.

Golden tortoise beetle transforming from gold to red

What

When your 24 hour premium skin wears off

Alright, y'all. Bug nerd here. Yes, this is real. This is Charidotella sexpunctata. It’s able change color like this by filling and emptying its elytra (the wing covers) with water. The mirror-like gold effect is caused by it forcing water into separate layers of its elytra, smoothing them out to the point where they actually reflect light. By drawing the water out, the red pigment beneath is exposed. They do this whenever they’re disturbed as a defense mechanism, likely to mimic foul tasting lady beetles.

So, there’s a fun fact.

On this day, 11 October 1946, the British government announced that 1,038 military camps had been squatted in England and Wales by 39,535 people in a wave of occupations of empty properties by ex-servicemen and their families. Over 4,000 people had occupied such camps in Scotland as well. It was part of a huge wave of squatting of empty properties by working class families demanding decent housing after World War II, and forced the government to implement a huge programme of council house building. Pictured: a demonstration of unhoused ex-servicemen and supporters We only post highlights on here, for all our anniversaries follow us on Twitter: https://twitter.com/wrkclasshistory https://www.facebook.com/workingclasshistory/photos/a.296224173896073/1551415248376953/?type=3

I just want to remind everyone how affordable buying food from indigenous tribes is. I live in a major city and I was able to purchase and ship (15) pounds of fish from back home to myself for cheaper than I could buy it from a grocery store here in the city. Yeah, shipping has its own environmental factors but I was able to support an indigenous owned business while also getting my groceries at a lesser cost. (Buying in bulk is always a good idea if you’re planning on having something shipped to you)

Some tribal owned grocers that ship:

Tanka Bars (Oglala)

Twisted Cedar Wine (Cedar Paiutes)

Seka Hills Olive Oil and Vinegars (Yocha Dehe Wintun)

Passamaquoddy maple (Passamaquoddy)

BONUS: coffee :)

Yeego Coffee (Navajo)

Spirit Mountain Roasting (Yuma Quechan)

Birchbark Coffee (Anishinaabe)

a cat will see a tiddy, go “is anyone gonna step on that?” (meow meow meow), and not wait for an answer before thrusting their little kitty cat toe bean paw at terminal velocity DIRECTLY at the nipple… who the fuck needs a binder? just get a cat to pulverize your tit meat flat. they’re playing DDR down there. making biscuits on those buns. testing the jiggle to wiggle ratio. fucking, I don’t know, seeing if it will fight back? meow meow meow, I am just a little kitty and I am going to crush your boobie with my little wittle feet. no pain, no gain. meow meow meow.

You don’t need him. Just stay home and keep doing you. You can even leave on the eye shadow. There’s nothing wrong with keeping your war paint on. Do it for you.

Monschau Germany

Monschau is a small historical town located in the hills of the North Eifel in North Rhine-Westphalia (German: Nordrhein-Westfalen) in Germany, situated just 4 km across the Belgian border. The picturesque old town center has many preserved 300 years old half-timbered houses along the river Rur.
