Y’know I reblogged this a bit ago and was saved from financial probation and getting kicked out of school because of it, just mere months from graduation. Got a call from the financial aid advisor telling me that they made a mistake with filing my account (or some other sort of clerical error) and said that, basically, they owe me money. Welp.

Ok guys I need to talk about this movie.

The Breakfast Club came out in 1985 and to this day is, in my opinion, one of the greatest damn movies ever to barely even have a script.

During the famous “dance” scene, Molly Ringwald, who played the “princess” Claire, was supposed to a small little dance by herself, but she was shy so all of them did some dancing together, creating one of the most famous film scene’s to date. It was improvised.

During the scene in the film where the characters sat down and told why they were there, there was NO SCRIPT. John Hughes told the cast to sit there and improvise why they thought their characters were there, creating that heart wrenching scene everyone could relate to.

EVERYONE can relate to this movie and thats the best damn thing. 

On March 24, 1984, five students entered a detention room thinking it was just another Saturday. Before the day was over, they broke the rules, bared their souls, and touched each other in a way they never dreamed possible.

EVERYONE IN THE WORLD NEEDS TO SEE THE BREAKFAST CLUB.

Bulimia isn’t a long haired pretty girl bending over a toilet with a tragically beautiful face on. It’s a puffed miserable face with vomit dripping from it’s chin and a fucking nose bleed. Anorexia isn’t a slim figure shyly refusing a cupcake. It’s hair growing over your freezing malnourished body. Depression isn’t a model with running mascara staring into the sunset. It’s staring at the fucking ceiling at 4 in the morning with burning eyes because you can’t even find the motivation to close them. Self harm isn’t lovely boys kissing your arms telling you you’re still beautiful. It’s nasty fucking scars that will be there forever and showers that sting. Panic attacks aren’t burying your face into your lovers chest and them telling you everything will be okay. It’s feeling out of control and like oxygen has been taken from you. Mental illnesses aren’t beautiful. They don’t make you special and don’t make people suddenly care about you. They’re monsters that destroy lives. So stop taking them lightly and promoting them to impressionable teenagers on the damn internet.

This. Is. Not. Okay. As Somebody who has struggled with legitimate mental illnesses and self harm, turning a razor into a fashion statement is unacceptable. This is triggering and if Arzaylea truly had depression and anxiety, she would not glamorize what is commonly used to self harm. She acts like it’s not a big deal on her Twitter but there are young, impressionable girls who are thinking it’s okay to use this as a fashion accessory. She makes it look like weed and razors are “cool” and “trendy” but it is by NO MEANS SOMETHING TO GLORIFY. It’s fucking serious and if she can’t respect that, she needs to go. 5sos always say they’re there for their fans and want to help them with mental illnesses and self harm but when Luke’s girlfriend is wearing a fucking razor as a necklace it’s like ??? What are we supposed to think?

After reading Rolling Stone’s interview with 5 Seconds of Summer, I decided to write my own article, mainly full of questions for the interviewer Patrick Doyle and the magazine itself. If you’re interested, go ahead and read. Please note that I am a fan of 5SOS (if you couldn’t tell) and I will admit, I might be reaching for a reason to believe these boys are not the assholes they’re painted as in the interview. But as a writing student myself, I’m also questioning the content and tactics from a professional standpoint.
