So.

Are you dropping these oh so polite suggestions in each and every Daryl/abc shipper’s inbox or just those that ship him with Carol?

A woman he gives fucking heart eyes to on the regular?

A woman he has formed a long and lasting relationship full of very obvious love and respect for?

A woman he has saved and who has saved him multiple times?

A woman he has teased and been teased by in return?

A woman he has hugged the absolute shit out of, has gone way out of his established comfort zone to comfort?

A woman he has given flowers to in the sweetest and most pure of gestures done in the name of comfort and love? Yes, love.

Now, I’ll give you that Daryl has acted in so many ways innocent and inexperienced in the regular conventions of love. But I’m of the opinion—and I’m not going to seek out anybody’s inbox to suggest that they share or conform to this opinion—that the reason for that has largely to do with his history of childhood abuse. Because, and keep in mind this is my opinion, that I’m not in any way seeking to make someone else share, unlike say you dear friendly anon, he doesn’t seem wholly disinterested in any of Carol’s teasing overtures. He comes across as flustered and disbelieving that she might genuinely be in to him that way, that she might be serious underneath all the flirty teasing and smiles.

But that’s my opinion and certainly not yours.

Did you put this in somebody’s inbox that might have wanted him and Michonne to share more than fleas on their missions to hunt down the Governor?

Did you put this in somebody’s inbox that thought Karen was a good match simply for the fact that she was of a ‘young enough’ age and fit their qualifications for what was attractive enough before she ever shared a scene with Daryl if any?

Did you put this in somebody’s inbox that Jessie should have given Daryl his first haircut Since the ZA and let her save her from her abuser?

Did you put this in somebody’s inbox that heard of a blond female doctor joining the cast and was so sure sight unseen that Denise was earmarked to be Daryl’s great love?

Did you put this in somebody’s inbox that might have wanted Daryl and Rick to be more than ‘brothers’?

Did you put this in somebody’s inbox that wanted Daryl to step in and be Maggie and baby Hershel’s protector after Negan bashed Glenn’s head in because it was the least he could do to ease his guilty conscience right?

Did you put this in somebody’s inbox that wanted him and Negan to fuck, circumstances be damned, because they are two ‘hot’ men?

Did you put this in somebody’s inbox that might have wanted him and Dwight and Sherry to have some kind of twisted threesome?

Did you put this in somebody’s inbox that thought he and our beloved pizza boy might be cute?

Did you put this in somebody’s inbox that thought Cyndie and he looked pretty standing beside each and thought hey, they’re shippable?

Did you put this in somebody’s inbox that read about the announcement of characters X, Y, and Z in spoilers and thought ooooohhhh, finally a love interest for Daryl?

Or, and I’m going out on a short limb here, you’ve just put this in the inbox of people like me that ship Daryl with Carol. That ship two soulmates that have been tiptoeing toward declaring what all they encompass to each other for nine long ass seasons. That have shared multiple scenes in the past and even more this season showcasing how very much Carol means to Daryl and vice versa.

So.

If you’re truly for asexual representation using Daryl, anon, more power to you if you’ve bombarded every subset of Daryl shippers’ inboxes with this oh so politely suggestion of yours.

If you’re hiding behind the representation flavor of the week that you think is going to keep Daryl from declaring once and for all how he feels for Carol? Well.
