Omg what?! It’s me, coming in hot with a really boring post 😂 Tl;dr- I found out I’m autistic and I’m going back to school. I have had a trying year. There have been highs and very, very low lows. I’ve been floating about in limbo trying to work out where I’m heading and what I want to do, especially after receiving official diagnosis for ADHD this time last year, and a couple months ago a further diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder (pending formal diagnosis when my place on the waiting list comes up). These things have made me realise that I CAN continue with my education, after years of believing I just didn’t have it in me, because now I know what I’m working with and what support I’m eligible for. And so, though I have no intention of stopping creating art, I am now working towards applying to do my MSc and, hopefully, will continue to do my PhD when the time is right. I’ve been pretty heavily focused on preparing myself for this mentally, and narrowing my field of study (with 100% focus on arachnology). What you see here is a quick illustration of a scorpion pedipalp as I prepare for a short course in Natural History Illustration which begins on the 4th of March. It’s another string to my bow which I hope will help me make compelling applications to my chosen universities. My content here will remain largely unchanged I expect, but there may be more scientific illustration & spider drawings thrown into the mix 😎 Anyway, I’m done now. I’m still working on commissions for everyone that’s on my current list, so please don’t worry about that, and I’m still planning a big shop update in the not too distant future!
