LoK Book 4 ep.7 notes: Hatin on the Prince yet they tolerate Mako

If you’ve read my previous post about Lok you know whats coming..

  • Varrick is out on the frontlines. Armed with nothing but a screwdriver and the spirit of Ironman he tinkers his enemies into submission. This is epic, this is great!

Now whats the actual main cast member who also happens to be an engineer doing?

She’s sitting on the standby chair waiting for someone to bring her back into the show (I would say plot but she has no involvement in it whatsoever)

It’s not that I dislike Varrick as a character but it irks me that they choose to recycle a secondary antagonist from book 2 to have an active role in the main conflict instead of one of the main characters who is more than qualified to fill the spot. Instead Asami is a battle-butler who’s just “there”.

  • The created-solely-to-be-annoying Prince Wu. Whats with LoK and its love for infantile male characters? Bolin, Bumi and now this guy (I’ll give Meelo a pass since he IS a child -a very annoying one who most older siblings would put in his proper place)

But the Prince is a rant for another day. All I will say for now is that they try so hard to make him disliked (Asami is straightforward with telling the prince to go away when all he did was obnoxiously ask her for a date- yet she STILL tolerates Mako) yet spending an evening with him is probably way more fun than with anyone from team avatar.

It’s so hilarious, Korrasami shippers are mad at Asami for yelling at Korra for being gone for 3 years (and having a pity party). But they won’t acknowledge the fact that their friendship is forced, that Asami was Korra’s handmaiden throughout Book 3, and that Bryke actually made Asami say she’s willing to abandon her company to move to the South Pole and continue her job as Korra’s servant. So yeah, apparently Korrasami is only bad when Asami isn’t treated like shit.

Korra turn her attention back to Asami and smiled. “Yeah, you’re right. Spending six months as a hobo where any sort of silence meant danger. You get into that mindset. Even when safe.

"I get what you mean-- it can get a little unsettling sometimes." She admitted. "Hasn't been quiet since I met you either." She added with a small laugh.
