Very intrigued by the amount of people (myself included) who are saying they didn’t like ghost/mystery files as much as buzzfeed unsolved.

Because this means we were sticking around for loyalty. Because we wanted to see Watcher succeed. Not because of “tv level content” or expensive shows or whatever else.

I have watched all the episodes of unsolved more times then I could possibly count. I have watched most of the ghost/mystery files, none more than once, and several of them I've had to rewind when I realise I stopped paying attention way back and have no idea what's happening...only to immediately do it again. It is so boring and lacks the heart and fun of BUN.

Okay PR sock puppet. None of this changes the fact that they stuck up a big middle finger at the fan base that made them and said if you're too poor to buy our content, we don't want you. They are still trying to frame this as something necessary but not well planned out. I saw a comment by someone on reddit who said they no longer comment on any fanfiction because of the risk of it being AI and ... that just seems like such a cop out to me, not to mention incredibly cruel to authors.

Please please please do not stop commenting on all fics or interacting with authors because you are worried about things being AI. The risk is slim, and the damage you do to authors by doing this is awful.

Writers put so much effort into their fics. For people to openly admit they still read and consume these fics, but choose not to comment on anything because of the possibility of someone using AI for their writing is incredibly selfish. You're punishing authors by doing this. You're not being moral or helpful or crusading for any useful cause - you're just hurting authors.

Ironically, by doing this, you're actually more likely to cause authors to stop writing (silence does this), and people who can't write will fill the gaps left by creating AI writing - so you're making the problem worse, not helping anyone.

If you want to support authors and writers, then SUPPORT them! Reblog work and send authors asks, leave comments and kudos, and above all don't punish people with silence.

Like no joke, as an author, this makes me feel like "okay, well then what's the point of fucking writing?" Like, if you're going to read my work and refuse to comment on the off chance it might be AI? Then why am I putting my work there for you to consume in the first place? If it's appreciated so little?

When absolutely 0 of Biden’s accomplishments have made any kind of news, and we’ve been fed a steady diet of fear and panic for 3 years, no one gets to be shocked when he loses the next election to Donald 2.0.

Posting anything positive about the president here will get you called a capitalist bootlicker.

What do we expect to happen?

Anger sells better. Anger feels better, it feels righteous.

It’s easier to protest against a president you don’t like then to actually remain in charge and keep pushing ahead, even if small, consistent accomplishments are all you receive.

I know I’ll never be missing an election in my life again (barring some kind of major medical event).

I just wish it weren’t so damn frustrating, feeling like you’re screaming into the void constantly, fighting against apathy.

CMS just announced that the government will start taking high-cost drugs that were developed with taxpayer dollars and start pulling patents to force competition and low cost generics. That’s fucking momentous.

I saw 1 news article on it. I wouldn’t have known it happened if I didn’t read the news every day. This should have caused the kind of celebration that erupted when companies started announcing $35 insulin caps. Why didn’t it?

Low cost hearing aids, lower and $0 student loans, concrete investments in green architecture…there was an announcement like 2 days ago to replace all leaded pipes out of US cities over the next 10 years, which will be an absolute boon in jobs for construction workers and can make our homes safer for kids. I’m sure I’ll see a headline in a year, “Biden’s lead pipe program causes drivers traffic headaches.”

Republicans want 20 foot concrete barriers topped with barbed wire across the entire southern border, and Democrats want amnesty and ease to citizenship for just about anyone who crosses, and it really seems like until a compromise is made somewhere in there, Republicans will continue to turn out in massive numbers to elections because God told them to, and Democrats will continue to stay home because the last president didn’t accomplish 100% of their goals and voting for an imperfect president is a personal and ethical failing.

Now take that mentality and spread it over every single social and economic issue.

I remember how utterly scared and angry we were sone years ago when Trump was trying to bankrupt the USPS. People were talking about it left right and sideways, asking people to buy from the USPS gift shop, start a stamp collection, anything. Then, Biden got elected and put a huge stop to that by getting rid of the unfair laws that only the USPS had to abide by. Overnight, the USPS was saved, and how did everyone react?

They didn't. It was hardly mentioned. Not a blip.

Same exact thing when it came to net neutrality!! It was DEVASTATING when it was killed. People died in wildfires because Internet providers throttled data of firefighters. Xfinity actually stole identities in order to make it happen.

About a month ago, BAM, it was restored because Biden appointed a Democratic leader to the FFC. Did anyone talk about it? Nope. I saw ONE post.

As for that comment about the IRS, thanks to having increased staffing, not only has it been way easier to call and get help (most of the funds went to call center workers), but the IRS clawed back 500+ billion from mostly rich people. Sounds like a good return on that initial investment to me!

Biden has also appointed, and gotten through the Dem controlled senate, a large number of judges, which is hugely important in fixing a lot of shit Republicans have been doing for forty years.

They are also the most diverse group appointed to the bench.

The hatred for Biden makes me feel like I've lost my mind, or more precisely that everyone else has because it's so, so much easier to feel righteous in anger than to accept imperfection.

Let me lay it out here, Biden is the best president in the lifetime of 90% of this website's users. Maybe 99%. But because the media is overwhelmingly owned by rich conservatives, and because even less right-leaning news are really insistent on this whole idea of seeming impartial to the two sides when one is quite literally bragging about plans to be a dictator, people are like "hur dur Biden old". Like man look at the middle post in this thread. It starts like this

OP describes Biden as a "garbage presidential candidate" and then proceeds to list off all the incredible, amazing things he's done in the last THREE. YEARs. And cops to him being the best president in DECADES. But yet... he's a "garbage candidate"? This isn't a personal attack on OP, it's highlighting the intense bias against Biden that has infected so many left leaning Americans. Recently a friend of mine said the words "yeah, but Biden is so old" as a way to lament how both candidates were equally bad. A not so gentle reminder than Trump is a scant few years younger and, I really cannot stress this enough, HAS OPENLY TALKED ABOUT BEING A DICTATOR IF HE GETS IN AGAIN. If Trump gets in, this will be the last time ANY of you will ever get to vote at all. That's not hyperbole, I get that people are exhausted about every election since 2016 being "the most important election of our lifetime" but the thing is, it's been true every single time. I'm sorry, but it is, and each election the right goes more and more right and the left has to beg people to make the effort to protect democracy and the rights of anyone who isn't a straight white male Christian.

As a Canadian, it's mortifying and terrifying that MY future, that the future peace of literally the ENTIRE WORLD, rests on the shoulders of a few million people who may opt to stay home because the Democratic candidate wasn't perfect enough. And Biden isn't perfect, and the Democratic party isn't perfect and there is a long road ahead for both before they can get even somewhere approaching GOOD. But Biden is the ONLY option for buying another 4 years where your country isn't a Christo-fascist dictatorship, where the rest of the world doesn't go to hell when the three major superpowers are all in agreement that the people shouldn't have any rights at all. So I dunno, maybe put your energy into preventing that by voting Biden (no, not third party) instead of lamenting all the ways you disagree with him. Because a Trump dictatorship isn't something you can social-media-activism your way out of.
