I wasn’t vaccinated and never got sick so

And I swam and didn’t drown.

Anecdotes aren’t evidence. The reason YOU specifically didn’t get sick is because of something called Mass Immunity.

That means that since everyone ELSE is vaccinated (you’re welcome), there’s nowhere for the virus to establish a hold. That mass immunity is the only thing that keeps people who CANNOT vaccinate—like the immunocompromised—from catching it.

The second that people stop vaccinating, that immunity disappears and the disease resurges, as is clear from the fact that the US is currently experiencing an epidemic of a disease that was projected to become extinct in our lifetimes.

Get immunized. There’s no reason not to.

Considering that there’s a whole host of people in my age range who weren’t vaccinated enough (even I was missing the second dose of MMR until recently) getting the measles and the mumps I think it’s ridiculous that we’re arguing over a life and death situation. Literally, do you want to live or die?

Also, even if you weren’t vaccinated and never got sick—at least not visibly—that doesn’t preclude the possibility that you picked up a virus and passed it on without knowing it.

Maybe you had…oh, let’s say measles. But you had no symptoms. Or maybe you had a fever,  or sore eyes, or a harsh dry cough, but that was it. But nothing that said anything was seriously wrong. And in the meantime, you went about your business. Maybe you waited for a bus with an old man, or shared an aisle at the store with a pregnant woman and her wailing one-year-old, or attended a party with your friends.

And the disease you didn’t know you had? That passed on to the people you met, or to people that they met. The disease you didn’t know you had was passed to a friend at that party, and she passed it to her mother and father, they passed it to their workmates, and now two offices are sick with your measles. The old man you saw at the bus stop? He got pneumonia as a result of the measles you passed to him. The pregnant woman from the store? She miscarried. Her baby, who was too young to be vaccinated? She developed encephalitis and died.

You’re not the only one who’s being protected by your vaccination. You’re protecting everyone else as well. That’s the fucking POINT of vaccination.

In fact, asymptomatic people are the most dangerous of plague vectors. They’re invisible.

House is me as a doctor

“Well, have fun at their funeral then you fuckin caveman cretin”

I’ve personally never really thought of making a masterpost (mostly since there’s already soo many good ones out there) but i haven’t really found many good calm/relaxing masterposts - with a sole purpose of reducing stress and just taking care of yourself. So I’ve decided to make this one in hopes of at least reducing a lil stress, and letting yourself forget about whatever is bothering you at the moment. Oh, and if anything should be added, or if you simply need someone to talk to, please don’t hesitate to message me. ^^

Calming sounds/ambience

Image

- Ambient mixer: this site let’s you listen to both ambiance and music, and allows you to make your own mixes if you’d like.

- Naturesoundsfor.me: i thought this one was a bit interesting, again its customizable, and you can listen to what others have created. You can mix different nature sounds together and adjust each sound’s volume.

- Noisli: while searching for really good ambient sites, i have to say i *really* love this one. It has a very simple design to it - click which sounds you want to hear and adjust how loud/quiet you’d like them to be. Along with that you can click the background for a random colour generator which slowly transitions into other colours.

Instrumental/Calming Music

Studio Ghibli instrumental mixes: here’s a bunch of ghibli mixes,  Piano mix / Instrumental / Some more instrumental / Jazz (first album) / Jazz (second album) / Music box playlist / Another music box playlist /

- Other instrumental mixes (from movies):  Wolf Children mix / Animal crossing: original game - wild world/city folk - new leaf /  - A few more calming mixes (misc.):  Has an animal crossing feel to it / Perfect for falling asleep to / Another relaxing mix / A more jazzy mix / And one more Relaxing/feel-good Movies

Just an experiment. Reblog if you actually give a fuck about male victims of domestic violence and rape.

Of fucking course

What sick bastard doesn’t

“You’d be surprised”, said Xaldien, who just lost four followers and received a lovely “men can’t be raped” anon shortly after reblogging this the first time.

Yowch, disgusting.

If I don’t reblog this, assume I’m dead.

Always reblog this

If you Dont reblog this if u see it then i cant call u my friend

IF ANYONE TELLS ME THAT MEN CAN’T BE VICTIMS OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AND RAPE, I AM SICKENED BY THEIR MERE PRESENCE ON MY BLOG.

If you disagree with me, unfollow my blog, block me and never look at my blog again.

If you want to debate about this or send anon’s about this, I will reply but your actions have consequences.

Out of 19000+ followers I have, only one of you actually reblogged about this issue, yet a lot of you have reblogged and liked a picture by playboy about catcalling and that how men should never do it.

Additionally, I have received abuse in my ask box (which I will be answering when I can) and threats. In particular death threats and rape threats.

I can see the real problem here already. Male domestic violence and rape is just invisible in our society because we don’t want to talk about this because it just damages the status quo of this fucking website.

I’m a male victim of child sexual abuse. We matter. Please, reblog this.

Male victim of sexual abuse here for many years. We exist, stop pretending we don’t.

Always reblog. Never forget.

This applies to both cis and trans men.

I’m pretty sure I’ve said this before, but I’ll say it again: Assuming that men can’t be victims of abuse is just as sexist as assuming that women can only be victims.

Abuse is Abuse.

And evil.

And for those who can’t understand this or want to understand it better, I suggest you go and read “No Place Like Home” by @theadamantdaughter and @honxrable

It really makes you feel differently about this whole matter and I appreciate them for bringing awareness to it in such a realistic way.

Oh wow, thank you so much. I didn’t realize how big of an impact this had on people. I’m really glad we could bring awareness to such an overshadowed, undiscussed, and incredibly important topic. Thank you so much, sincerely.

13 years ago today, Pepsi’s Super Bowl commercial starring Beyoncé, BritneySpears, Pink & Enrique Iglesias was premiered. #PepsiGladiators

Damn these were simpler times

so lemme break this down

-lord caesar iglesias, who does not sing in this musical commercial, has captured britney spears, pink, and beyonce to battle it out gladiator style -our trio decides instead of fighting, they will instead rock so hard that the audience forgets about their battle to the death -their musical prowess is so damn powerful they rock the foundation of the earth and overthrow caesar iglesias along with his stash of ancient roman pepsi -beyonce, britney spears, and pink drink pepsi while the audience cheers -enrique iglesias is eaten by a lion

imagine if the oceans were replaced by forests and if you went into the forest the trees would get taller the deeper you went and there’d be thousands of undiscovered species and you could effectively walk across the ocean but the deeper you went, the darker it would be and the animals would get progressively scarier and more dangerous and instead of whales there’d be giant deer and just wow

you have a beautiful imagination

My whole problem with the “I do makeup for ME! I’m EMPOWERED when I put on makeup!” discourse is that it completely erases the fact that women aren’t actually given the ability to MAKE that choice. It’s impossible to say that you’re doing it for self empowerment, or that “if it wasn’t so much fun I wouldn’t do it” because that’s just not true. Women who enjoy doing their makeup and women who don’t enjoy doing it both have equal pressure to wear makeup. Whether you enjoy the process or not, you will be taken less seriously as a woman, valued less, respected less, considered ‘unprofessional’ at work, etc. if you choose not to wear makeup. Men aren’t faced with the decision to get an extra hour of sleep or to be taken seriously. By writing it off as a cool empowering fun thing women do as an exciting entertaining hobby we’re just…. erasing the entire institution of makeup and of beauty standards that seriously harm women. If you enjoy doing makeup that’s great, that’s fine, and you should keep it up! But wearing makeup in the first place wasn’t ever your choice. We don’t GET a choice. I hate people saying “oh you don’t have to wear it! If you don’t like makeup don’t put it on!” As if I’m expected to just be cool with the way the world will treat me if I don’t conform to modern beauty standards! If you’re worrying about your eyebrows or lip plumpness or skin tone evenness that’s not you making a free willed cool decision to feel insecure and concerned about facial features that men never have to think twice about. That’s you thinking in a way you’ve been trained to think! And people wanna pretend that putting on makeup is Empowering… what the hell is empowering about making a choice that’s been forced on us since we were old enough to be seen as sexual objects lmfao… that’s bullshit that doesn’t empower me and having to give up valuable time and money and energy that men are never asked to give up makes me feel like shit!! It makes me miserable! It makes me dread every single morning because I know I’m gonna be putting forward all this bullshit labor just to exist and be taken seriously in my stupid body

A+ post. I would like to add, as well, that this sudden emergence of make up being cool and empowering for women comes directly from make up companies and Sephora, in particular. When I worked at Sephora they told us, in a hundred different and equally veiled ways, that the trick to getting people to buy something is to make them want it. When you need something you become restricted by the thing, but when you want something you’re exercising your free will. We were told we were “celebrating beauty” and making people comfortable in their own skin but in reality we were slinging $30 concealers at 15 year old girls who don’t understand that the skin around their eyes is thinner and therefore always darker. We were pushing eyeliner and mascara in “fun” colors to get young girls into make up under the guise of self expression. And the women who worked with me would go on and on about how their make up ritual was for them and how it was their “war paint” but then they would confess they felt uncomfortable leaving the house without a full face on. Most annoying to me was the short lived emergence of the naturally flawless skin trend. When I started at Sephora the trend was matte everything, full coverage foundation and strong controuring. It was a lot of make up to wear everyday and when summer came there was the biggest swing I’ve ever seen in trends where girls wanted BB creams and sheer foundations, no contouring, just the bare bones. From that we noticed a lot of people coming in for skincare. There were girls walking through the store with huge water bottles asking for sunscreen and face washes and Sephora was having NONE of that. It felt like a step in the right direction, taking care of your skin, protecting it from the sun, drinking water, and most importantly, it felt like the trends we’re moving away from “cover your flaws” to more of a self-care aspect (I’m very aware that the same motivations were behind the skincare trend but it wasn’t as sinister feeling). Sephora soon came out with the Celebrating Beauty focus where we were supposed to push the empowering effects of make up to people who weren’t in the store for make up. “Oh I see you’re buying a face wash for dry skin; let me show you this foundation that hydrates and gives a natural glow.” The goal was to get people buy make up in large quantities, not skin care. Sephora actively quashed teen girls’ attempts to take a step in the right direction by telling them make up is empowering. They are financially invested in the belief that make up is empowering.

damn this addition that was added to my post from my main blog… great commentary from someone who has actually worked in the industry and seen the way it works to harm women first hand

Ok I like 90% agree with what you guys are saying (especially about makeup brands pushing makeup and coming out with lines especially for people who don’t want to wear makeup and pushing products like concealers on women who don’t feel they need them) but I honestly think you’re exaggerating when you’re saying that it’s deemed unprofessional for women to not wear makeup at work (Now I’m assuming you both live in the US which may have vastly different standard to what we do in Australia).

I have worked in several office jobs as well as many jobs in the hospitality industry, I have turned up for work in all of these jobs wearing and not wearing makeup depending on how I feel that day. I never felt like I was deemed unprofessional because of it and although I admit more women do wear makeup, there were always a couple of women who never wore makeup and I don’t think it was reflected in how they were perceived in the workplace. But again we are probably not exposed to the agree of makeup advertising that you are.

So what I’m really saying is that I don’t think this problem is universal (certainly not to the degree you are talking about), so your arguments saying it’s impossible for me to wear makeup for self-empowerment do not hold water at least in Australia (again it may be different in the US). So maybe just hold off on completely dismissing the idea that makeup can be worn for empowerment only, on a worldwide platform when many of the problems you are citing in your argument do not occur, or do not occur to the same degree in other countries.
