I picked up a pack of Field Notes to see what all the buzz was about. I like them better than moleskines because they’re more portable with the soft cover (as if these things could get any more portable).

Also yes I’ve been doodling from time to time over my lecture notes! I haven’t given up on this blog. I’ve been drawing a lot of hands lately though so I can’t draw people or faces for shit haha.

Yep still can't draw shoes lmao. My line work is getting a bit better though... I think.

I started reading Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain by Betty Edwards and it's probably one of the most insightful books on drawing that I've read.  She doesn't show you how to draw with shapes or anything.  Instead, she talks about a bunch of psychology stuff with the left and right brain.

After reading a few chapters, the gist of it is to draw what you see, not what you think you see (yoooo I totally came up with that).  After spending 20 years of my life thinking and then thinking again about literally everything, I think it finally hit me.

So yeah, there was an exercise where you had to draw your hand without looking at the paper, but with your hand only.  It kinda blew my mind.

I really need to get a scanner, but anyways here's something. Had to write a dissertation proposal and do some other junk lately which has been getting in the way of sketching, but I've been doing at least a little something every day despite not being able to upload it--My phone simply can't take photos decent enough q___q Will have access to a scanner soon enough though.

So yeah, my brother may or may not join the fray of posting very crappy artwork (shown above).  He recently bought a Retina iPad Mini and he's taking an art class in the fall because of some personal thingy.  He's almost 30...  which is pretty scary for me because I'm almost 20.

This freaks me out every time I look at it.
