WHAT’S YOUR MOST MEMORABLE EXPERIENCE WITH A LOVED ONE?

You’ll know that it matters when you remember it.

That’s what I always say, and this is one of the most memorable experience I’ve had with my cousins. We are all girls (mostly), so practically, we’ll manage to find a way to wear a bikini somehow, and this is the first time that we’re all together on a holiday trip that involves beaches, so just imagine six ladies having the time of their lives on a serene beach in Ilocos, it was the most memorable one yet.

We’ll make more memories as we went on with our lives, even with the busy work and school life we’re having. Times like these reminds us that we should not waste one precious moment that could be preserved forever through photographs that we could always look back on and not fade even a bit. As always, we should capture moments and capture smiles with #oppof5

PECULIAR NIGHT

A night where ordinary is sprinkled with a little extra.

This would be the last Chemical Engineering Grand Acquaintance (GA) party that I would ever attend, hopefully, so I thought about posting a short update on my blog (it’s been dead for a while now) since I have a few hours to spare before I get on to business again.

Last year, I made a post about my performance during my 4th year GA, and, if I haven’t mentioned, I vowed that I would not sing again on the next GA (which is this year) because of all the nerves and the frightening feeling I felt before hitting the stage. But then again, I never expected that I would be performing again. It was not on my list for this academic year but a week before the event, one of the organizers chatted me and told me that I was requested to do a rap. Yes, rap. Yes, I was shocked, but then again, performing called on to me and I couldn’t turn it down. I guess this should have made me more nervous but I found myself excited to explore and showcase another talent of mine in front of ChE crowd. My performance, as always, was not perfect but I enjoyed it nonetheless. I rapped a mashup of Can’t hold us x Look at me now with Reizl Leguiab. There have been people who are doubtful that I can push through with this bold act (since no one has ever done this kind of thing in ChE, I think) but Reizl never once told me that we cannot do it when I myself also doubted that I can, and I was thankful for that. I was also thankful for my ever supportive friends who knows that I’m bida bida when it comes to performing. They’re my stage mothers when I step onto the stage. :P

Our theme for the Peculiar party is the 50s. You think we did a great job portraying an elegant decade of the history? We’re like a family <3

2015 HIGHLIGHTS

Now that I’ve finished everything book related on both my blogs, I am now heading to my life’s highlight last 2015.

It’s been one hell of a ride, last 2015. It wasn’t freaking easy especially in my studies where I experienced everything from bottom to the top, well, bottom mostly though and I’ve never been to the top but the feeling of passing one of the scariest subject in Chemical Engineering program is enough to make me feel like I’m on top of the woooorld!

Even with those challenging and scary moments I have experienced last year, I still got the chance to enjoy myself with friends, families, and experiences.

FAMILY

It’s been a rarity these past few years to see my family and my relatives enjoying a good’ol Noche Buena and road trip together, and last year has been a great reunion for all of us, especially my sisters and I, with my cousins. It’s good to catch up with one another because at some point we all felt like we’re apart (my sisters and I mostly), and last year, we all enjoyed each other’s company by dining out, watching sunset, rolling on sand, etc.

FRIENDS

I am so blessed to have a dynamic set of friends (and the new ones as well) that I can hang out and talk with every single time. People who got to celebrate my birthdays with me, support me on my singing career (HAHA, lol, feeler), read books with me, stay late night with me during thesis nights, eat messy ice creams with me, jam with me, pick garbage with me, and a lot more stuff they experienced with me. I know they don’t have a choice in the matter anymore, they’re stuck with me forever and I know I am going to love every single moment of it. More fun moments this year. Cheers!

MYSELF

I am onto conquering my biggest fears last year, and I get to do that not once, not twice but every single time I got the opportunity to do so. I love singing but I don’t have the confidence to sing in front of a crowd but I did so many times and I am so proud of that. I thank God for it every time, and for being with me whenever I am on stage.

I still have a lot of improving to do on myself and I know I did, somehow, last year, and this 2016 is a continuation of that.

It took me 8 days after new year before finishing all 2015 related stuff, and I am so proud of myself! HAHA.

Have a great year ahead, dearies! :)

BEST BOOKS I’VE READ IN 2015 & NEW READING CHALLENGE

Wee, I’ve finally come to this. I’ve been busy these past days finishing three reviews so I can make this blog post. Now this is my last bookish post that are due before the hype of a new year dies down.

I listed 8 books as my best ones I’ve read for 2015. You can check them out and see if we have the same titles on our list.

On to my 2016 Goodreads Reading Challenge, I decided I want to read 50 books this year, so wish me luck! *wink*

#ProjectAnnotationsPH

So last Monday, I finally received the book my blogger friends and I are passing along to read for our little book club. This is the pilot testing of our project, the original plan is to read one book per month but since we are all too busy with school/work, it took a lot of time to read. Since it’s just the pilot testing, that’s okay, at least we already know what to do next time.

So for our first project, we decided to pass along Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard.

Project Annotations means that we could do anything we want to the book while reading it. Highlight quotes, underline phrases or words, write comments on a certain chapter, write sticky notes, etc. Anything as long as the owner of the book approves.

So far, I have only read three chapters. I’ve been really busy with work and when I get home, I usually just immediately pass out, so I have little time for reading. Hopefully, I make a lot of progress during the weekend since it’s a holiday on Monday!

I’m the third person to read the book and there will be someone after me and then we’ll be passing along another book. So, you see, this is a mini book club with some of my blogger friends here. And while this is really enjoying, I find it really weird to write stuff on a book. It’s just…. I don’t really do that often. Wait, I don’t really do that. So this project is very new to me but so far, I am enjoying the process.

Xoxo.

Abandoned Marionette Reads

Hi, this is Badz. I was formerly known here as abandonedmarionette. For those wondering why they cannot open my page, don’t worry, I did not delete it. I’m still here and active. But what happened was way worse than me finally opting to end my Tumblr days. When when I woke up this morning, I found out that my account has been terminated.

I already contacted the staff through email and apparently, there was one song I posted which violated this site’s terms & conditions, and someone reported me. And the consequence of that is the termination of my blog. I don’t understand why because I bought that song they told me about. They also told me that they terminated my blog because I already got three strikes but I never did receive any notification of my past posts violating their rule. But oh well, I don’t think I’d ever access my blog again.

It just really sucks because I also asked if they could let me open it for at least a day or two just so I can back up my posts (poetry, prose, art, personal text) but then I still am not receiving any reply.

I guess it’s safe to say that this is goodbye for my old blog. I was just really shocked. And I just stared at the page saying ‘This page has been terminated’ for a good long hour before I finally accept the reality of the situation. I know this may be one of those 'first-world problems’ but I cried. It was more than 6 years worth of post. I have been on Tumblr for that long, and every effort I made for each post was gone in a blink. All my book reviews, movie reviews, book recommendations, book challenges, book photography posts are gone now. It’s really devastating.

Anyway, I couldn’t just mope around forever. So, here I am. This is gonna be my new account. And frankly, I don’t know how to get back into my rhythm. But I will try my best. Right now, I am trying to fix my page and create the same theme as my old blog.

So, if you guys can just help me, it would be really nice if you could reblog this if you used to follow me on abandonedmarionette so that other people don’t assume that I just suddenly vanished.

Also, please, if you are a book blog, like or reblog this so I can follow you. I mean, there are a few dozen booklrs I can remember but I used to follow 3,000+ blogs and it would be impossible for me to track all those. It would really really mean a lot to me.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this. Go forth and read on, booklovers!

My First Grand Acquaintance Party Ever! [October 29, 2015]

I almost cried before I went on stage to sing because I never thought that there would be a lot of students in the events place. I was kidding myself by being brave whenever we practice and I almost broke down before our performance, but luckily, we  both did well. Oh, this stage fright won’t ever go away.

Anyway, the whole experience was awesome and I got to party like I have never had before, which is actually true, considering I don’t drink and party but that night was a happy night! :)

I am easily awed by a lot of things. I am an avid fan of Disney and an ardent music lover; a movie buff and a series junkie, and many more. I want to do a lot of things. I love to explore and discover things that are beyond my knowledge and capability. Above are three things on my World of Wonder and I am going to tell something about one of my favorite Disney characters (the other one, of course, is Belle), Tinker Bell.

Tinker Bell and her Uncanny Ability to Destroy & Fix Things

I am so very much like Tinker Bell, and that’s what I like most about her. I am going to break it down some of the reasons below:

Born from a laugh

“When the first baby laughed for the first time, its laugh broke into a thousand pieces, and they all went skipping about, and that was the beginning of fairies. And now when every new baby is born its first laugh becomes a fairy. ”

~ J.M. Barrie, Peter Pan

I am not saying I am born from a baby’s first laugh, but I am so driven by making other people laugh, that it makes me truly happy whenever they do. You can say I am a joker, which I really am, that sometimes even the corny ones become funny because of my reactions and my wonderfully weird laugh that just enjoins everyone to laugh with me.

Trying to find her place in the world

Right after Tink was born out of a baby’s first laugh, she must know what her specialty was. She wanted so much to be one of the water fairy or the garden fairy, and every other kind of fairy except for the Tinker fairy but it chose her when she decided not to touch the hammer-like thing that symbolizes the Tinkers.

It meant so much to me because I want to do everything. I easily get envious by the fabulous life of others but the Engineering course chose me even though I still think I am not fit to being one. Tinkers are much like the Engineers of Pixie Hollow and like Tinker Bell, I struggled so much in finding what I wanted but I discovered that I can still do other things without abandoning my future title as an Engineer. I can still be a Tinker Fairy and still be fabulous in my other talents aside from being a tink this tink that Chemical Engineer.

Tinker Fairy

As I have said, Tinker fairies are the Engineers of the human world and I am currently a Chemical Engineering trying to weave her way to being an Engineer. The road to get there would be bumpy and disastrous like what happened in the movie, but in the end, Tinker Bell will always save the day with her uncanny ability to fix her mess using the things you won’t expect to be of use anymore.

Tinker Bell mirrors my life in so many ways. She’s a very pretty fairy who loves collecting stuff-- who will always have her friends’ backs no matter what. Tinker Bell makes my life wonderful by showing me that I can be the best in what I do even though it would take me the long route to know so.

Throwback to my audition at ChE Chorale.

Yep, don’t mind me please, I was nervous as hell and I don’t know what to do with my hands. HAHA.

I was browsing some videos on my tablet yesterday and I was like, “Okay, this will go to my blog in case some weird thing will happen to my tablet and erase all my files”. It already happened, the videos of my first pageant are all nowhere to be found because IDK what happened to them so I’m securing my videos :D

IT’S A GOOD SUNDAY WITH JANE AND MICHAEL [It’s not Sunday, though]

After a long while, I finally finished my review. I might have kept my new book buddy waiting because I am so busy and kind of lazy, but now it’s finished and I might have gone all out, I think. HAHA.

I really think it would be cool if I had an imaginary friend as a kid, but I don’t because I have my sister frienemy, olanikita to keep me company so I have no time to talk to an invisible bunny or a 35 year old grown man. Do you have imaginary friend? Like what would you do if he suddenly turned up at your doorstep and barge into your peaceful life to make it a life worth living again? Bet you’d like that, huh? :D

NEXT, I reached 300 followers already.

Yay, halo guys, thank you! *Huuuugs* I wasn’t keeping track but this morning I accidentally saw it and ta-da! :D

Lastly, Yahoo! Movies revealed Glass Sword’s cover and I was psyched!

First, the hype around this book was palpable. It was like one of the most talked about books that came out this year. So I was curious, but not so much that I would risk being spoiled so I tried to stay away from the reviews and sticked to the synopsis. I've waited for this book for 2 months. Two freaking months of people actually reading it already and me waiting and waiting... And when it arrived, I just admired the book cover because it's so freaking beautiful in its simplicity. Silver crown tainted with red blood (very fitting with the story) and the big words, RED QUEEN. Gorgeous *in a singsong voice*. You can sneak a peek at the beautiful book right HERE and full review HERE.
