suppression’s mantra

This has been my life in the last fwe months. And I’ve got only one thing to tell you:

Don’t let it become yours. If you think ‘it doesn’t bother me’, then search what feeling is missing. Because it’s there. And it needs to come out.

Grief, I’ve learned, is really love. It’s all the love you want to give but cannot give. The more you loved someone, the more you grieve. All of that unspent love gathers up in the corners of your eyes and in that part of your chest that gets empty and hollow feeling. The happiness of love turns to sadness when unspent. Grief is just love with no place to go.

Moira: Angela! Good news! I’ve reverse-engineered your biotic technology so it can suck the life out of people now!

Mercy: *horrified* How is that good news!?

Torbjorn: That’s not what “reverse-engeneering” means, Miss Ph.D.

Moira: *slowly raises right hand toward Torbjörn*

Mercy: *grabbing Moira’s wrist and lowering her hand* No. No.

Grand re-opening!

I’ve mulled over these adjustments for a very long time. I’ve got new offerings, new prices, clearer guides and, hopefully, some very interesting options!

The one I want to call the most attention to is my new clothing design option. It’s in its infancy as a commission offering, so only a few models are available as examples. However, any WoW race is offered, and any body type can be created on demand.

I’m doing all of my orders by form this time; please use the form found on my official website to get in touch with me.

Thank you all for supporting me all this time! I’m excited to get started again!

I’m going to open commissions soon! I’m working on the price guide tonight, as in, putting it up on my website and finalizing everything!

I’m going to be using a form system, like many other artists have done. Interested buyers will fill out the form, submit it along with links to their ref material, and I will message whoever I decide to take on.

I’m wanting to keep submissions active for about 60 days so that I can finish a few, then pick from the list, then finish a few more, then pick from the list…until that 60 days is up. After that, I’ll clear everything and start over.

That will save some awkwardness when emailing previously-interested clients, only to find that they found someone else to do the work, or no longer have the funds available. It’s incredibly embarrassing for me, as I feel that I am intruding on their time and comfort levels, but I’m actually just trying to hold spots for people because I know I’m hard to catch! (Sorry!! ;-; )

Please stay tuned for that announcement. It may come in the middle of the night, but don’t worry – I’ll leave the submission form open for at least 24hours so that no one has to worry about first-come, first-serve.

Thank you all for your continued support in my art journey. I’m feeling better and better as things settle down <3

*stares at all the writing I want to do for WoW stuff that is essentially new lore and worldbuilding and falls back once again into an incomprehensible mix of depression and anxiety over if it’s worth pursuing or if I should just start writing original fantasy even though I will instantly lose almost all potential for an audience by no longer writing fan material but I lose any real ability to control and profit from my ideas as long it is written under WoW’s universe*

This is absolutely not true!

Take heart – many people have successful WoW comics, Patreons, artwork businesses, RP blogs that get asks because their characters are loved, and many people who start a creation rooted in fandom are able to change it over time to be something that can stand on its own!

Besides that, we get emotional rewards from completing things that we love and want to make. Never believe it is a waste of time just because you can’t directly sell it. There may be ways you can see some financial return (and there are cases where it is NEEDED, like how I sell my art skills).

Besides that, I know that many of us LOVE the chance to expand on WoW lore. We can balance creativity with plausability, and there will always be other people willing to accept our headcanons. That’s part of the fun of BEING in a fandom!

Please, would others weigh in on this topic? Show the hope you get from your beloved creations <3

Something you have to remind yourself is that fan material is profitable, AND controlable. As Pinxie points out, many graphic artists and writers make a living out of these things.

An important point here is the anxiety over your own private creations. It is well understood that a fan work is first found because it’s conection to the original work. But having a follower base also means their interest shifted into the creativity behind it and not simply the fandom it represents.

This grants you a platform for your original work. Self promotion is the kickstarter of a successful enterprise, and you have a captive audience to promote yourself to. Continue creating fan work and balance it with your original works. People hooked by your talent will take an interest in it.

You think only 1% of your followers will take an interest? Well, remember this: You had the same ammount of followers on your fan works at some point in the past. You found an audience for one, you’ll find an audience for the other too.

Jean, with a Pinxiedust flair~ (just a liiiiittle bit different from her reference) for Mei. In my olden days, I went by “Mith”, hence the signature. The requester and requestee are two friends from times looooong past. xD

She always puts everyone before her, and tries to do her best to help her family to the point of exhaustion.
