Day 105: Buddy Daddies

Type: Anime

Spy × Family, if the family part was better (and no spies).

  • Best found family anime I've seen.
  • Good mix of wholesome family stuff and dark hitman things.
  • Miri is a real gremlin. Very accurate child. Very cute.
  • Visually good looking. Vibrant colors at the happy moments, and gray tones at the serious stuff.
  • Opening and ending songs are amazing.
  • That last episode :')

This one is anime of the season for me

Buddy Daddies Season Review – Winter 2023

When P.A. Works announced the release of Buddy Daddies, anime enthusiasts quickly compared it to last season’s hit, Spy x Family, with its captivating portrayal of found-family dynamics. However, Buddy Daddies Season 1 didn’t simply live in the shadow of its predecessor – it emerged as a unique and refreshing take on the genre. For those unfamiliar, Buddy Daddies follows the story of two hitmen, Kazuki and Rei, who find themselves tasked with caring for a baby named Miri.

Animated by P.A. Works and helmed by director Yoshiyuki Asai, Buddy Daddies takes viewers on a heartwarming journey as these two formidable men discover the joys and challenges of fatherhood. From navigating diaper changes and feeding schedules to protecting Miri from their dangerous line of work, Kazuki and Rei undergo a remarkable transformation as they learn to put their newfound role as dads first.

What sets Buddy Daddies apart is its ability to strike a perfect balance between humor, action, and emotion. The series effortlessly blends heart-pumping fight scenes with heartwarming moments of tenderness and vulnerability. In addition, the animation is top-notch, with stunning visuals that perfectly capture the story’s essence.

no joke but what I really want for Buddy Daddies as a fandom is to make fanart and fanfic post present time ep12 where Rei wears an arm orthosis when working.

I think varied disability aids being represented would be fantastic, and personally would write Rei as someone being deeply proud of something he's done for his family, but also understanding with time that using an orthosis also helps him at work and in raising Miri. with a giant portion of mobility/motorics aids being represented by prosthetics, seeing more variety and exploring it in fiction would also help making a step in normalising disability treatments.

Are you talking about something like this?

Honestly had to google how this things look and this is a sign of how unrepresented people with those kinds of disabilities are

If BD had done anything right, it’s this. This is what matters when it comes to families with children, regardless of its make up. This isn’t a question for children from nonconforming households, but for all children: are you happy with your family?

Anna-sensei treats all kids and their parents with same love and compassion! You show ‘em how it’s done queen!

Buddy Daddies: A Fresh Take on Parenthood and Action in Anime

I recently watched the anime series "Buddy Daddies" and was pleasantly surprised by its unique storyline. The show centers around Kazuki Kurusu and Rei Suwa, who are both assassins and live together. They end up taking care of Miri, the daughter of an assassination target, despite not being related to her. The series explores the challenges of parenting as Kazuki and Rei navigate their roles as guardians while also dealing with their dangerous profession. I enjoyed the blend of action, comedy, and heartwarming moments throughout the series as they learn to work together as a family. Overall, "Buddy Daddies" offers a fresh take on the concept of family and what it means to be a parent.

Throughout the series, I found myself rooting for Kazuki and Rei as they faced various challenges and obstacles, both in their personal lives and in their work as assassins. The show does a great job of balancing the serious themes of parenthood and the action-packed nature of their work. I appreciated the way the series tackled topics such as gender roles and the importance of family values. The characters are relatable and endearing, and I found myself invested in their stories from start to finish. "Buddy Daddies" is a must-watch for anyone who enjoys action-packed anime with heartwarming family dynamics.

It's been a long time since an anime has kept my attention and had me looking forward to every episode from start to finish like Buddy Daddies has.

Genuinely one of the best animes of the year. 👪💞

I know I sound like everyone else here but Rei truly is a favorite. Yes he fits into a rather popular type, stoic/gloomy with black hair, you know it. But his character development quite literally shattered that troupe. I love how he’s written. Rei deserves all the love he gets.

I will never be over this scene, I need to write essays about it.

the fact that a instagram account for a fictional character is more thoughtful at not showing the fictional child's identity to the whole internet, while at the same time still posting wholesome family stuff, unlike most of the family youtube channels combined, is truly something i didn't expect to see in my 2023 bingo card
