Updates! *01/15* I had originally intended on keeping it short, but due to reader enthusiasm, here is a master version. Each contribution was appreciated, you freaks rock.
As an addition to the goth/post-punk/alt band masterpost, here’s a list of bands featuring members of color. Most are influential, others new discoveries or future freak gods. Thanks to research and helpful readers, here’s a bit of sick sound suitable for all taste buds:
Goth, dark or industrial:
Punk or hardcore:
Metal, funk/rap/reggae metal fusion or core:
Alternative or too cool to label:
Thank you thechampagnenigga for images/links and looselimbs for one more suggestion!

In a world where autotune is the rule and the one in the top 100 is the wrong kind of Iggy, I highly recommend this online radio to you.

I'm in that "WHY DO I TRY THINGS WHEN IT ONLY MAKES ME FEEL LIKE PUKING?!" stage of the 'creative process'.
Working on a new Dangerous Films post about Cult Classics (not covered in the horror post). Here's how some images are coming along so far.
Its an extremely brief selection of different genres like the Horror one, so I'm sure to miss a lot of great movies. Still, if there's one that really stands out to you let me know- especially terrible 80s post apocalyptic films.
I'd like to make a SciFi/Fantasy post so I'm not sure that I would put in, say, Blade Runner- but I want films like Mad Max, Escape from New York, A Boy and His Dog- see what I mean?
Any suggestions?
cinnamon-screams replied to your post “Confession: I will always hold a slight grudge against Boris Karloff for portraying such an inaccurate version of the creature, and for making said portrayal the image that pops into everyone's mind when they hear the name Frankenstein.”
BUT THE LEVEL OF NUANCE AND EMOTION HE WAS ABLE TO BRING TO THE ROLE WITHOUT EVEN SPEAKING! I'm sorry for yelling, but DAMN it KILLS me that people don't appreciate Boris Karloff like they do Bela Lugosi! Karloff forever.
I get that people who love the novel (which absolutely was beautiful, complex, and philosophical) hate how it's portrayed in popular culture. I really do.
It did NOT stick to the novel AT ALL. I mean, did any one notice how much more likable Victor is? in that he's likable at all?
But the first two Karloff Frankenstein films were their own works of art. It's ok to make art inspired by another work of art... that's kind of how the whole thing works.
The people the nerdy book-fans are really mad at is the everyday schmuck who thinks the Scooby Doo version of Frankenstein is the novel. The only people who notice or get upset by their rants are other nerds who love the classic horror film.
So... it's gonna be ok, fellow nerds. We're all ok.
Here's something I'm working on.
I've been asked to make a list of dangerous movies for Goth Triggers, and after trying for months I think I'm going to end up making shit like this and hosting in on my website. Yes, it's very blurry and not finished.
If I can make it work, I'd love to do more for other genres (like Cult Classics) and then maybe move onto music.
Because I hate myself.
I'm pretty... obsessive is a strong word... I get stuck on things like this. Well, I'm excited anyway.
So that's what I've been doing. :)
