Reasons Why I Love Delena- Season 1
Their mysterious first met on the road
“So Damon… Tell me… What is it that I want?”
The way Damon kisses her way at their second “first” met
“It was nice to met you, Damon.”

Their conversation after the dinner that he wasn’t invited too

The fact that Elena got most, if not all, the information about Katherine from Damon.

This is it people. This is what it all comes down to. Everything I’ve ever said about Elena’s feelings for Damon. Her love for him. Every meta, every theory, every conversation, every argument I have ever had comes down to this episode. This moment in Elena’s life. Her grieving over him. This one line, really.
“I want to thank you for giving me everything I ever wanted, a love that consumes me, adventure, passion. There’s nothing more that I could’ve asked for…except for it to last forever."
This is all the proof you need that Elena truly loved Damon. Not only that,.. but that she loved the way that Damon loved her. She is grateful for it. It is proof that Damon is what she wanted all along. Weather or not she was able to admit it to herself or everyone around her. Elena always did love as deeply as Damon…and that is the reason they fell so deeply in love with each other.
