Agender!Garrus

For years, zie doesn’t question that zie is male. Of course zie is a guy - if you’re not a woman then what else are you?

But, zie prefers to consider zier position in turian and other society as “C-Sec Operative” rather than “male Turian”. Gender never seemed particularly relevant when you’re pointing a gun at a criminal’s face.

When zie leaves C-Sec, frustrated at all the bureacracy (zie can’t help but noticing there are an awful lot of forms to go through if you wanted to change your name and pronoun designation), zie encounters … a wider range of people. Most mercs, yes, that zie does not talk to further than to ascertain that they are the ones zie is hunting. But others too; there’s a much wider range of expressions on Omega than there is on the Citadel. Counter-culture and all that.

When they assign zem the name “Archangel”, zie is pleased. An avenging archangel, protector of the weak, righteous justice made flesh. There is something more, also. Angels are genderless, and Garrus likes that. You cannot assume an angel’s gender from looking at them.

Of course zie brushes it off, liking the name, whenever anyone asks, including Shepherd when she find him. It was just a name the mercs him zem, nothing more.

As it turns out however, getting hit in the head and almost bleeding out does a lot to change your priorities. Maybe something was knocked loose, some long falsly-held beliefe about gender, but when Garrus leaves the medic bay the pieces begin to fall into place. Long hours spent along running calibrations down in the main battery gives one time to think.

And when zie comes out, Shepherd is the first one zie tells. There is some confusion at first - gender studies is not one of the classes offered when you’re trained by the Alliance military - but some explanation clears things up nicely and Garrus feels a lot more confident in telling others. A note his made on his file, and Kelly sends a memo round, and people just start referring to Garrus by zie.

trans woman hawke headcanons

  • she doesn’t start questioning it until beth starting to get older, actually. she often had to go out with leandra to help buy fabrics for beth’s new clothes - that’s where it started.
  • by the time she’s 18 she’s covered in hair from her face down to her ankles - she starts covering herself up more, making the summer heat unberable some days.
  • the first person she tells isn’t family. it’s serendipty at the blooming rose, the pretty elven girl with a deep voice and rumors swirling around her existence - hawke pays for two hours and cries for an hour and a half.
  • when money finally comes her way she starts changing things for herself. she starts shaving. waxing. removing the thick, coarse hair, knowing it would be back by the end of the day.
  • the second person she tells is merrill and the elf is thrilled because trans people are so so common amongst the dalish - merrill is actually the one who teaches her about tucking safely!
  • isabela knew from the get go and between her and anders they’re able to get her supplements
  • when the banquet in the champion’s honor finally arrives, she’s herself for the first time, in a dress that accentuates her hips, modest heels, a corset - people call her beautiful and guests of all genders clamor to dance with her
  • she was never able to tell her mother in person, so she goes to the chantry often, to the plaque that sebastian put up for her and speaks to that.

ok so my sister brought this about drells to my attention: "…their hyoid bone, located in their throats, is particularly developed. This allows them to inflate their throats and produce vocal sounds outside of the human range."

yes that’s right INFLATE

Lesbian Couslands are seriously underrated.

She’s the only daughter of the second most powerful family in Ferelden, and everyone assumes she’ll get married one day when she meets the right man. Fergus already having a wife and son takes some of the pressure off, but that expectation remains.

Arl Howe comments about his son fancying Lady Cousland, and if she explains that she has no interest in men at all, Bryce Cousland just laughs it off. Later, while Dairren flirts with her, Eleanor talks about her daughter’s love life as well. They all seem to think Lady Cousland’s sexuality is a phase, or perhaps they simply don’t know.

How awful it must be to feel like most of her own family doesn’t accept who she is. Lady Cousland is faced with the dreaded possibility of a marriage she will never want, or of failing to do her duty.

And then she becomes a Grey Warden as well as most likely the last of the Cousland line. Leliana shows her that there’s nothing wrong with her, and she isn’t alone.
