Haircare brand SheaMoisture, founded in 1991 in Harlem by Liberian refugees, released an ad on Tuesday. The ad depicts the ways in which women of color are often neglected by the beauty industry. “Break the walls of the beauty industry” is the message to black women everywhere.

Things to Stop Tolerating

1. Toxic relationships and environments. 2. Rudeness and a lack of basic courtesy. 3. A disregard of healthy and appropriate boundaries. 4. Being constantly used and disrespected by others. 5. Hiding your true self, or your personality. 6. Feeling bored and empty, or feeling life lacks meaning. 7. The pressure to “just settle”- and give up on your dreams.

I like how sleeping next to someone means more than sex sometimes, the body’s way of saying ‘I trust you to be by my side at my most vulnerable time,’ you have no defenses when you are asleep, you tell no lies

“❤  these photos of Taraji P. Henson, Janelle Monáe and Octavia Spencer dressed as their characters in Fox 2000’s “Hidden Figures”! In the film, which will tell the true story of the African American women mathematicians who were behind one of NASA’s first successful space missions, Henson stars as Katherine Johnson, Monáe as Mary Jackson, and Spencer as Dorothy Vaughan. We can’t wait for this trailblazing trio to hit the big screen next January!”

As seen on the Because of Them We Can by Eunique Jones Facebook page

EXCUSE ME, DID YOU JUST SAY THAT TARAJI P. HENSON, JANELLE MONAE AND OCTAVIA SPENCER ARE IN A FEATURE FILM WHERE THEY PORTRAY FAMOUS BLACK WOMEN IN STEM?!?!?
