Lots of people are complaining about how Aquamarine looks like a child but honestly? The whole deceptively cute thing was the /only/ way that Steven could have encountered her and not raise alarm. If Steven had met topaz first . even just one half of the fusion WITHOUT the horrifying having humans stuck in her body thing. Steven would have automatically assumed that she was Hostile!

TL;DR. Aquamarine was tiny and cute to lure Steven into a false sense of security
