So there’s this artist, Alex Schaefer, who makes a bunch of paintings of Chase Bank burning.

There’s just

so many of these

and I think it’s incredibly funny but

I just read this bit from the artist and

This is a "plein air" painting which means I set up my easel right across the street of this Chase bank in my city and painted it like it had caught fire. The police questioned me on the spot. Three weeks later Homeland Security was knocking on the door to my home. The question they kept asking me was "Do you hate these banks?" I can honestly say yes.

And I just think this is the greatest artist statement I’ve ever read.

You know what’s some crazy $hit?

This fabulous bitch

She makes a shit ton of poses (like 16,000 or some crazy nonsense).  I used this lovely lady to draw so much as a teen.  Whether it was some nerdy pose for my Mary Sue as fuck OCs

or for full on fight sequences

or for tragic deaths of my OCs in the arms of a totally OOC main protagonist.

this bitch hooked me up.

And with the wildest, craziest stuff that you could see in your head but had no way or resources to reasonably draw like

or this

or this

DUDE!  INASNE SHIT!!  So I was using her for a pose reference and decided, you know what, I owe this bitch some cash.  Lemme dole it out for her.  BUT then, I looked and saw she only has 286 fucking patrons!!  This chick gives out free shit and spends countless hours arranging these shoots and setting this stuff up.

I’ll fork up the cash, SenshiStock.  You’re worth it.

Check out this amazing woman’s stuff, and get knowledged:  https://www.deviantart.com/senshistock

I have been following her for years on deviantart.

Highly reccomend checking her out. She’s the best. If I had any money to throw I’d throw it at her for providing such a big help in my life.

This hero doesn’t wear capes, she instead wears (and looks utterly flawless) in tank tops(?)

Interrupting my regular Star Wars BS to reblog this because @senshistock is amazing and beyond worth the follow and support!  I first started using her refs gosh I want to say back in maybe 2008, and I’m happy to be a supporter of her over on Patreon.  If you’re an artist please go find her stuff on all the platforms, you will not regret it!

Yessss, she is so awesome! Been following her for years. My favorite stock artist is jademacalla, who is, incidentally, in the last two images above. He has a lot of great angles, costumes, gear, etc! I love his hands, too.

noted homogenous country China

Is it not? I was taught that China is 99% han Chinese

It’s about 91% officially but “Han” is a term that has a lot of history and baggage associated with it especially since it’s a label that’s used for people from vastly different areas speaking entirely different mutually unintelligible languages and with different cultural practices. The history of the development of “Han” as a term for people is complicated but it’s does definitely derive from the Han dynasty and a funfact is that in languages like Cantonese the equivalent term is actually “Tang” after the later Tang dynasty and the role of dynastic names in all of this is a major clue for what “Han” means

Anyway a good example of cultural diversity of China is simply looking at the wide linguistic diversity even in places where the population is considered “Han” . In Shanghai which is the most populated in China and people traditionally speak what’s called “Shanghaiese”, a dialect of the Wu language which is mutually unintelligible with Mandarin and which is still fluently understood by about 81% of the population of the city (there’s been worry in recent years about a possible steep decline but that’s another topic). Hakka people In Guangdong province most people speak varieties of Yue most notably Cantonese but tens of millions also speak languages such as Hokkien and Hakka which are all quite different languages with their own histories

they're not even right about japan being monocultural either, japan's culture differs widely across its islands in numerous ways, and not just in terms of indigenous groups like the Ainu people

still thinking abt how veth didnt feel like the nein needed her, and was questioning if she should stay with her family. and im still thinking about her thanking caduceus for saving luc again, and telling him that her biggest fear is not that she wont come back but that luc will always expect her to leave. she tells this to caduceus, who’s whole family really did leave him alone for a long time, who expects to be lonely. and then he finally tells someone that he does need them. he tells veth that he does need her with him right at that moment. and she just says “ok .. i needed you yesterday. you need me today…” and agrees to come with them to the grove :’’(

something I’ve been thinking of lately…the overlap of 40k’s fash and racist, or should I say white supremacist, fanbase, things like golden one, arch…it’s always overlapping only with the imperium.

these people are never fans of aeldari, of orks, of tyranids, of t’au (in fact 9/10 times they completely and absolutely hate aeldari and t’au). in fact a lot of these often even fall into some pretty predictable paradigms ‘aeldari are gay/girly/effete/not manly enough and so have to be bad and wrong and deviant’ and t’au are ‘dirty commies who lie and are clearly evil and dare to besmirch the holy name of the in-group’ and I just…it’s weird. this overlap with 40k exists, people have pointed it out, but it only exists with the imperium really.

whenever I meet one of these people, fans of Warhammer who seem to legitimately have some scary ideas…they’re always imperial players, generally space marine players.

they never seem to play xenos at all. in fact they often hate xenos so much they seem to want them out of the setting, or approve of their only role in the setting being to get curbstomped again and again.

I don’t know i’m rambling but it just dawned on me recently I only ever see this overlap happening with the imperium, never with xenos.

A professor gave us an extra credit option: take a picture of yourself outside, doing something that you would not usually do. We were told not to take it too seriously. Here is my entry:

I maintain that sticking my head in the mailbox is not something I do on a regular basis.

Love that some of you are reblogging this. You looked at a picture of a guy with his head in a mailbox and went "yeah"

Can't wait to see if everyone did something like this or if they had a normal reaction. I will keep you posted.

[ID: a photo of a pale person wearing a black t-shirt and jeans with his head in a mailbox /END ID]

Hello to everyone asking for an update!

The professor has said that he will put all submitted pictures into a powerpoint to be shown in class tomorrow (Tuesday, March 9th). I am very much looking forward to seeing the reaction from him and from the rest of the class. I promise to keep you informed.

Update: the professor saved my picture for last. I was told that I had "truly embodied the spirit of the assignment" and that I had gone "above and beyond."

Also, to everyone who is worrying about whether or not I got my head out, I was gifted with a very small head, and while I got out just fine I would NOT recommend this if you have a large head or even a normal sized head.

Hey you guys should make this into a meme.

Hows this?

An experimental conservation project that was abandoned and almost forgotten about, has ended up producing an amazing ecological win nearly two decades after it was dreamt up.
The plan, which saw a juice company dump 1,000 truckloads of waste orange peel in a barren pasture in Costa Rica back in the mid 1990s, has eventually revitalised the desolate site into a thriving, lush forest.

This is the greatest thing I’ve read in a long time and I want this experiment replicated everywhere as soon as possible.

My town would be a good start.

the funniest part is that everyone is so surprised.

“composting kitchen waste makes plants grow. who knew???”

well… everyone?

It’s not so much that they’re SURPRISED about it. That was actually the original plan.

This juice company agreed to donate a few acres of its own land to a bordering national park, and compost orange peels there to help restore the land. They were subsequently sued by a rival juice company for having “defiled a national park.” The law sided with the rival company, and the project was discontinued early.

This isn’t so much a “Wow SO SURPRISE!” as a “FUCKIN’ TOLD YOU SO!”

Plus also, sixteen years ago, we might’ve known the answer to the question “What happens when you compost kitchen waste?” but we DIDN’T know the answer to “What happens when you dump 12,000 tons of orange peel on 7 acres of ecologically depleted wasteland?”

And for the first six months, the answer was, “7 acres of nasty-smelling, fly breeding ex-fruit sludge, and a lawsuit from a rival juice company,” but 16 years LATER we can say, “A 176 percent increase in above-ground biomass, and a study site so transformed we couldn’t tell we had the right place until we dug the sign out of undergrowth consisting mainly of native shrubs and grasses, SUCK IT, TICO FRUIT!!!!”
