i will write something more coherent when it’s not 3:30 in the morning and i’m not crying but it was pointed out that @mephedup had not come online in a few days. i googled his name and learned that on the 8th, he was struck by a young driver and is no longer with us. i know a lot of his friends and guild mates follow me and i don’t know how to offer any sort of closure on this because i’m still coming to grips with it but i would like to ensure those close to him are aware and not left wondering

Meph & I were the kind of friends to talk infrequently but deeply when we did. I’ll miss him dearly; he was the sweetest person behind the bluff exterior.

Honestly, thank the Lord for men like him. On behalf of my former 15 year old self, for my current 22 year old self, for all the harassment I used to face and the harassment I still do face to this very day, I am very thankful for men like him. honestly this is accurate, edgy DKs are out, cool undead friends who just happen to be murderous killing machines are in.

they have a special friendship clubhouse where they hang out and also lament darion mograine’s poor coping skills

don’t get me wrong: I have seen the cruel, heartless killing machine done interestingly, because people who play those dudes & have a reasonable idea about their limitations & don’t mind losing can make fantastic villains and plot drivers.

but death knights who’re allowed to struggle with their emotions and all that they’ve lost, that have to deal with that need for connection with others while being something most of the world hates & reviles, are vastly more interesting as characters 99% of the time. that’s what I’ve always loved about RPing a death knight who has Way Too Many emotions–but looks at the emotionless killing machine held up as the Scourge ideal and goes “why can’t I be that, even though it’s horrible”.

Kae sez being emotionless while being a killing machine just takes all the fun out of it. REVEL IN THEIR SUFFERING, DELIGHT IN THEIR AGONY, MY FRIEND!! +____+
