young me especially would have hated hearing this but networking is literally the most important thing you can do to improve your situation like forget economic barriers to education etc just keep making friends with different people and eventually someone will offer you a hand up just because they dig your vibe and that is exactly all that's happening when undeserving people surpass you anyway

When I look at how I survived my 20s, it was always helpful friends putting work my way. And often the helpful friends were people I had only known for weeks.

Another take on my Wings of Pages concept. This time it's drawn in Procreate instead of SAI.

The hardest part was writing all those words onto each page. It's 50% real text from books and poems and songs, and 50% chicken scratch lol

It makes complete sense if they were going to double down on revolution, conquest, new & old world, and hypocrisy that a character like Annette is in the story. She's not just from anywhere in the Caribbean but Haiti. The Haitian revolution is, from what I know, the only successful slave revolt that ended in liberation and the establishment of a free nation in human history. If people stopped being reactive for 5 seconds, it really doesn't take any mental effort to want a character like Annette or Edouard, especially if you're talking about France.

The hypocrisy of France going on about liberty but not extending it to Haiti and the enslaved population there, it makes for a compelling element, coupled with the hypocrisy of the church talking about devils and literally making a deal with one lol

If you're going to make a story about freeing yourself, Haiti and having Haitian characters is a natural choice.
