Daryl making Carol laugh is so fucking cute on so many different levels 

because not only is it the loveliest thing in the world to see Carol smile (however temporary) for herself, for us, and for Daryl ..

and not onlyyy did he make the joke because he wanted to make her smile.. 

but he also couldn’t stand to watch her upset as she was. Like her tears were almost hurting him as much as they were hurting her in that moment. Because Daryl cannot take seeing Carol sad or troubled or upset in any way so he held his sadness in to try to spare her any more pain and he just couldn’t stand seeing her as sad as she was that he had to make it stop somehow. Like he didn’t want her to have to cry but it was also toooo fucking hard to sit there and watch the tears on her cheeks (over something that was real even if she didn’t know it :( )

you know what else I love about this scene?

that Daryl is physically smaller than Richard but will still kick his fucking assssssssssss without even thinking about it if he dares to go near Carol because nothing else matters when it comes to her. He will act to protect her and win that fight no matter what because it’s her ♥

and Richard is intimidated because he can see in Daryl’s eyes in the six seconds he has this confrontation with him that Daryl loves the total fuck out of this woman and will do anything to make sure she stays safe

yeah.
